For me personally, I consider it either a disorder or a disability or both depending on who's asking. I would never consider it an illness though.

I would say it is a disorder than is also to some degree disabling. There are some very highly successful people who are diagnosed or diagnosable with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. In those cases it is not terribly disabling if one is prosperous and economically stable. I suppose they could still suffer a social deficit and experience anxiety which lowers their quality of life in spite of their relative success.
