I don't particularly care for cats. Give me a dog, especially a big slobbery bloodhound or a basset hound any day!

I had the best dog, an Australian shepherd. But he died a few weeks ago. My daughter has a small white dog with a piercing bark I cannot tolerate. It's like having an ice pick thrust into your ear. Fun. I really miss my dog, though.

Yes, I remember - we both had extreme losses that painful week. Blue Heelers are magnificent dogs, handsome, clever, and devoted to their owners..

We have 2 cats in our house, a boy and a girl. The girl belongs to me, and the boy belongs to my brother.

Right now I have one cat and one dog. I have had up to 3 dogs (if I don't count our beagle's puppies - 7 of them, which I gave for adoption except 2 of them), who found and adopted us, and was pregnant, her puppies turned out to be half beagle and half black labrador, and looked more like labradors, including the size when they grew up, than beagles) and 6-7 cats at the same time (one of the cats who found us was pregnant and we kept 2 of the kittens and gave the others for adoption). Even the cat (another cat) who had kittens in our old barn brought them to me (right at my door) so I would take care of them. Some of my dogs adopted me (came to my house and I didn't find the owners, and of course I adopted them back), same with some of my cats. Others I bought from a person who was selling puppies, like my 2 neapolitan mastiffs. I love dogs and cats, can't live without them.

Yes - we have a cat! She's a very intelligent and verbal tabby. She even greets me at the front door when I come home from work.

Don't let my avatar fool you - I'm not a small chicken in real life so having a cat is not a problem. :D

My wife and I are the humans of two cats. I say that because we don't "have" cats, they have us. Both times we went to the shelter and let a kitty pick us; it couldn't possibly have worked better.

Søren Kittengaard is a sweet, tiny little brown Classic Tabby who, like his philosopher namesake, approaches a problem from every possible perspective.

Clawdio Sanchez is a very big and very severe-looking, but loving and cuddly, brown Mackerel Tabby. His face looks like you would expect Ron Perlman to look if he was a cat. But he has a voice like Mariah Carey. So we named him after this guy.

I know that feeling! Recently on another thread there was a tense discussion about whether extra terrestials could have visited Earth. Could not resist pointing out that they are here, in the form of cats, and have already taken us over...

There was an episode of Futurama based on that premise :D

Personally I like to reverse the standard way of thinking about human-pet relationships as a way of grammatically reinforcing the fact that, unlike most (possibly all) other relationships between humans and domesticated animals, the bond we have with our pets is not (or at least is not necessarily) exploitative, but rather can be mutually beneficial to both the pet and the human.

My household has 3 cats and a litter of 4 kittens at the moment.

Lucy - a petite, jet black kitty cat (and also the kittens mummy)

Timmy - lazybones tabby cat

Zac - black and white outdoor explorer (he has a bell on him, to warn the birds that he's around, as he likes to hunt them)

And Bubbles, Penny, Sonic and Sammy - our 4 adorable, energetic little rascals (soon to go to new homes in the New Year)

I've always wanted a cat with two differently-coloured eyes - they are so unique! I only ever see them in calendars, though :D

I used to have a pure white cat with green eyes. She wasn't deaf, but even if she had been, all the more reason to take her in! (she was a stray)

I have 2 cats: a brown tabby neutered male named Grimalkin, and a black & white spayed female named Sweet Baby Girl.

It's white cats with blue eyes that carry the deaf gene, not green eyes.
The more reason to take her in if she were deaf, i like this attitude. kindness to animals shows what kind of person you are.

My weakness is for the orange boys, the most affectionate and endearing cats that have enhanced my life.

I have one fifteen year old gorgeous red tomcat. I would like to have two, but my apartment is very small AND he would never accept another cat inside these walls.

My weakness is for torties, after my oldest Mary Belle adopted me as her kitten.
