Not sure why you worded it like this... Gender has nothing to do with an individual's grasp on mental illness.
Most of the commentaries under the article were female based on their names and photos. I just stated a fact.
I find it's better to be "paranoid" than put your hands over your ears and sing, "LALALALA!" whenever an Autistic person is reported in the news to be less than an angel. I also believe the rampant pressure to deny Autistic people are fallible and could do bad things, puts all of Autistic people at risk of falling victim to someone like this. Go ahead though, continue making fun of me for being "obsessed" with the safety of Autistic people. Or try to upset me by gaslighting me, saying I lied about my lived experience. It's only testimony to the claim Autistic people lack empathy.
Nobody in this thread is saying that autistics can't be violent. What we're saying is that autistics are no more likely to be violent than the general population. It's therefore irrational to have more fear of autistic people being violent than anyone else being violent.

I agree with you 99%, but I still don't blame autism, I blame the lack of proper parenting and resources to help steer him in the right direction. I believe with any mental disorder that labels "Obsessions" as one of the common traits, you're going to find that some of the people are obsessed with the worst things they possibly could be. We all have a common interest in not having autistic people tabbed with the desperate virgin murderer like this poor tortured soul in the article, in the same light the muslim community doesn't want to be blamed for charlie hebdo as a whole, so naturally you're going to see people come to the defense of autism.

Yes, we can ban her username if she wants.
I want to be banned. Then I can never make the mistake of posting on this site, which sees clear acts of emotional manipulation and abuse as disagreements again. Besides no one wants me here. They only see me as the girl out of touch with reality. Who's fears deserve to be invalidated and labled paranoid. Who must have lied about being nearly assaulted, because Autistic people never do anything more than sit around wearing a halo. You'll have to find someone new to beat up on now.

Yes, perhaps autistic people are fallible in ways that NTs aren't so much, but nothing excuses his behavior. If someone is so obsessed with having sex for the first time, why is their first impulse not to hire a prostitute?
And 17 is not so old, where is this pressure coming from? Society? Peers? Take a bus to Nevada for goshsakes and go to the Bunny Ranch (I suppose he would have had to wait a year). Personally I was relieved to lose my virginity before I was old enough to drink... but it's been so long, I think I got it back.

Except that there are many scholarly papers that cite tantrums, meltdowns, aggressive behavior, irritability, and violent outbursts as part of Autistic Spectrum Disorders... We are more prone to this than NTs...
There is, however, confusion as these behaviors are a far cry from attacking and trying to kill someone.
I agree that this is not an autistic behavior... but also, I cannot blame the NTs for being concerned.

Find me a paper that confirms conclusively that autistics are more likely to be involved in violent crime than the general population. Most accurate research suggests that not only are autistics no more likely than the general population to commit violent crimes, they're actually less likely. Meltdowns and irritability does not equal planned acts of violence.
It's your choice if you want to be banned...I don't know how people on this site normally treat you, but I don't think anyone meant to upset you in this thread. It seems like they were disagreeing with you and I can see how that could be upsetting if you take your opinion very seriously.
I don't think it's true that nobody wants you here, but I think you have a right to your emotions. I think people usually have a right to their emotions, whether or not I share their feelings. And I don't think you'd lie about something like being assaulted.
I don't think that having autism causes people to murder others. Would you like to agree to disagree and not discuss this with me, VioletYoshi?
