I have posted before about identity and self-referencing.
I think many autistics either lack an identity, have a weak identity, consciously simulate an identity, and/or form powerful filters between the identity and conscious thought.

I think that NTs generally have an extremely elaborate identity developed within the subconscious and that all information gets processed through the filters of the identity. Also this identity has direct access and control of the chemical reward feedback systems within the brain.

I think that lacking this kind of identity results in several conditions considered to be psychological disorders, such as "existential depression" and "anhedonia", among others.

I agree. People have elaborate ways of identifying. Like genealogy. I don't really care who my ancestors were or what they did. It doesn't impact me.
