Yes, combination of my lack of understanding social cues from interested girls, literal thinking and lack of any interest in relationships as a teenager combined to me being mercilessly teasted and humiliated just for being thought of as gay. I found it rather ironic that some of the torture the bullies put me through would never be done by someone who wasn't at least bi-curious.......

I reckon they only think I'm gay in the original sense of the word, and even that wouldn't be very often, because I don't usually radiate more than moderate cheerfulness.

A lady did ask me online once if I was asexual. Don't know why. She had been saying some confusing things just before she asked that. Hmmm.......

WhenI lived in the Houston area, I used to have a gay coworker who attracted women like crazy.

Sometimes we would go eat lunch together. We were walking to a seat in a large crowded Black-Eyed Pea restaurant one day and I noticed that every young woman in the place was watching his every step. I guess he thought it was pretty ironic because he had a stupid smirk on his face the whole time.

I didn't have the foggiest idea he was gay for a long time. Then one day during lunch, we stopped at the local bicycle shop so I could pick up something for my bicycle (I rode 3,000 to 5,000 miles every year back then). The next time I went in the bicycle shop, one of the people who worked there told me that my coworker was gay. I thought he was nuts. It was a couple of years later before I realized that he really was gay.

I never did understand how the guy at the bike shop could see the coworker once and know he was gay.

Some girl painted my nails for a pack of starburst on the day before my junior year. Who can resist starbursts? I became the laughing stock of my highschool when I showed up on the 1st day of school with my nails painted cuz i coudn't get them off. I got made fun of by virtually every male freshmen and sophomore. Everyone thought I was gay, actually it helped because girls had no problem talking to me cuz they thought I was gay.

You should have been here in the late sixties. I never saw a male with his nails painted, but if I had, I would have just assumed it was some counter culture fad. If I dressed today like I did then (sandals, bell bottoms, very strange shirts, head band around my hair, ...), everyone would probably think that I'm gay.

Yes, I've been asked if I was gay; and, before reading this thread, I would've said "I have no idea, why". In reading this thread, I've had "a lightbulb moment", when I've read people's posts, stating that others have thought they were gay because they weren't competitive with their gender, didn't pursue a relationship with the opposite gender, and didn't like to talk about sex----all 3 of those things, right there, are ME!!

Never been asked if I were lesbian but many times people thought I was a guy. Had a Turkish mate when I was 18 and his grandmother was really upset when she found out I wasn't a nice Turkish boy as it was summer and I was quite tanned
Have been approached by lesbians too whom thought I might be bi-sexual when I was younger.
The women in my family were not what I considered role models at the time and I've always worked with guys so there goes.

I doubt people think i'm gay, no one has really asked me. I don't really have any friends that are girls. I'm just way too shy around girls so no wonder iv'e never been able to get a girlfriend. Also the fact that im into guy things such as sports, video games, and being active.

I was hit on a gay guy once (either that or he was just more open) This one dude in my Spanish class whom I was nice to and he was like are you gay because I have a crush on you. He was just an all around weird person and also very rude. Come to think of it, half of the people in my Spanish class were just all-around rude people.

Yes, due to a social blunder i made a few years ago.

I believe you can feel attracted to a person, doesnt matter if its a guy or a girl.
That being said, i do not want to have sex with someone who has the same gender.
Just the thought of it makes me go.. BLAARGGHH
But i do believe you can feel attracted to a person
Call it true friendship or same-gender soulmate.

The problem was, People only heard the first part and forgot the second part. Couple that with my weird way of saying stuff like this and they actually believe i am gay.

You must think being gay = being a gay stereotype.

I'm gay, but also very masculine & into guy things such as sports & being active. Not so much into video games at all, though. But things like construction, mechanical repairs, getting outside and participating in fun sports like kiteboarding etc - very much guy things vs. stereotypically gay things.. which is maybe a part of why 99.99% of people I've ever met just assume I am straight, as I don't fit the stereotypical flamboyant scenester gay guy profile. At all.

No, I'm quite feminine in appearance, so most people don't think I'm a lesbian. Which is unfortunate, considering I am one.

I'm feminine looking, aside from having a little more musculature than the average woman. I guess it's the vibes i give off.

My mom asked if I was a lesbian. I haven't brought someone home in 6-7 years.

Yeah, people assume I'm a lesbian, because I say I am a lesbian. Because I am a lesbian.

So I guess my response doesn't actually apply to the question.
