I wish chocobos were real too. The ones in X-2 are adorable!

As for my avatar... I don't think I'm like Faris.

Do they really?

Yeah, it's worth a laugh though.

I've just changed mine! I've always identified with Queenie! She's kind of a spoiled brat but really funny...........

Yeah, I always identify the member by the avatar.
It's kind of ironic that people identify me by my avatar, because this is not even remotely what I look like.
That's actually Irial Faith, my RP character in the Gandesha thing over in the roleplaying forum.

I tend to be able to talk better with people with video game and animal avatars... even if its a cartoon animal or an imaginary animal. I don't have trouble recognizing them as people because in most cases the animal in their avatar would be unable to use a computer... Video games are easy to put a voice to or a sound because of the sounds the games make... its harder if you don't know what the person sounds like to put a sound to the name and that makes them harder to recognizeas people. Pictures of people are confusing because it could possibly be a picture of someone famous and I think its them, they can also be a bit creepy if you look in their eyes...

I usually imagine people as their avatars though... <_< it is a little scary when someone changes it.

It makes sense in Quatermass' case though - his previous avatars have included various incarnations of a rather well known Time Lord, who has obviously now mastered reverse regeneration - or maybe we of Wrong Planet are just being vistited by Doctors from different points on his time line, consistent with past practice. The Avatar I have chosen is shared (vaguely monastic-looking character with a beard) with a number of people - are we several souls trapped in one body?

I like a lot of people's avatars on here. But if they change them often it does confuse me because I'm not always good with names but I remember avatars. Though I'm face blind sometimes and wouldn't remember a photo.

Raph your baby cat avatar is so darn cute I can barely stand it. I just want to scoop the baby up and hug it.

I suppose what I meant really, is I have more chance of being able to summon up some empathy for a person with a photo. Without, I struggle. I can intellectually get an impression of who someone is etc, but it is not the same. Too hard to describe, I am brain dead tonight with fatigue and period pains. lol.

The reason for my Avatar is that it's one of my experiments when using the All-Power Adobe Photoshop. I may change it if I make one that looks more awesome then this one.

I'm not my avatar. It's a detail of a pen and ink drawing I drew for someone else. I chose it because it reflects my intent to embrace my newfound community, er.. at least in a tentative Aspie kind of way, by sort of, you know, half-heartedly (but with good intentions) holding your hand. A little.

However, in full disclosure, especially to women and youngsters, I am a 48 year old man. (members only section, pictures thread, page 149). So, when you see this avatar, think "old man". :)

Like Graelwyn (sp?), it helps me to see a picture, because I'm a very visual person. It is often a shock for me to see the person behind the avatar - never the same as I would imagine, but I mean that in a nice way because you all look so nice.

I'm not my avatar. It is a motion tracker with a bunch of red blips (opposition) converging on the center which is the person with the motion tracker.
