Foot problems
I quit drinking in 1990,lost contact with everyone I used to hang out with....not drinking was frowned on in that crowd.....No "straight edge" allowed.I use to go to punk shows for a few years after getting sober and I saw a few of them around once in awhile, but most had left MN,dropped out of the "scene".The guy I new from Scifi worked at First Ave....we use to call him "Scifi Brad",or Brad Silvernail, ever heard of him?He was the only punk I knew who had braces on....for years, never had the money to get them removed? He had a friend, also from there who we called "tatter skin",I think his real name was John but there were a lot of Johns, nobody used their real last names....it was a weird scene. Some of the kids were "run aways" that did not want to be found, usually for good reasons.
I hope things aren't to harsh for you right now.Hows getting into school going?I found it really hard to get "organised" when I was on the street, hard to get anything done when you dont have a secure base to operate from and have to use all your resources just staying alive.....where to sleep,to eat,to find ciggy butts(I used to get some great ones outside hospitals, lots of nervious people around taken two puffs and leaving the rest for me...how nice.

...As for the school thing , at present , it completely depends on someone else's get-back to me .
The visit to Rochester...I was thinking about it as a possible stepping stone to moving there , either to Rochester ( Not to live live with the friend forever , but , obviously , stepping stone . ) , or , maybe , to Minneapolis...However , after about a week there , it's clear that the friend's wife ordered me out ( This wasn't directly stated , the friend said that - he ran a bit of a boarding house - " Had a new person coming in all of a sudden " . Uh huh . Well maybe . ) , presumably finding my " wierdness " - what I'd now , at least in part , see as my Aspie-ness - as too much , tho I hadn't done anything wrong -
He found a temporary place for me . I was waiting for some money to be sent to me to come , so I could get away . I spent my money while waiting , and , while I had a place , I had no food the last two days or so , I had a TV in my foom , getting maybe three channels- I went to sleep that night , real late , September 10 , CBS's all-nite news on , to wake up to - uh huh , the Twin Towers' burning down , Dan Rather the voice of doom .
My money came that day , and I was able to eat , pack up and get away .
I've had little , tho not , literally , absolutely none , contact w/the friend since...
When I was in Green Bay my punk freinds were all straight edge , essentially .
They WEREN'T nuts/stupid about it , they were quite sensible .
Except maybe for GB , all the places I have ever lived have been very-expensive realo estate places , it's just how that's turned out .
I've taken next to no or alchoho ever , but , sigh - I sort feel I should have had at least a little bit .
I haven't exactly , at least to date , been rewarded much for " being a good boy " say .
I hope you get into school, college was a little wasted on me because I was to obsessed with my own reading(love books),drinking and boyfriends....but I did take a few classes that were really interesting and worth the time, philosphy, lots of lit classes, some cultural anthropology. It was mostly a worth while experience but certainly didnt help me be a more "functional adult">I am 43,have a BA and rarely make over $10.00 an hour.Currently working at Pet Hotel, cleaning up after dogs, cleaning the building.I am there all night by myself and the dogs,(which I love)except the barking can get a little annoying, the dog kisses make up for it.The past four year I worked with disabled(DD)clients changing diapers, giving showers, making them food, etc. Also overnights(I only work overnights for the past 15 years) 3 guys I worked with were great but the other staff were morons(ignored the clients, lazy, etc)and one client has OCD and will not stop talking....it's a lot like the dog barking....lots of noise makes me a bit crazy, cant think.
If you do get into school take classes that teach you how to think not how to memorize(which is about all high school was for me),but also what kind of job you want to try when you get out.I didnt even think about that in college.I really thought I would just kill myself after I graduated, had no intention of "growing up",see how well that worked out...I am now 43 and still alive working mostly crap jobs for little money(landscapeing, factory, resturant, fast food, hotel cleaning, car park)Working with teenagers in a CD/MI "treatment center for 8 years was barely tolerable...not because of the kids who I mostly liked but the management,a bunch of clueless adults with pointless rules which I constantly broke(ony the really stuipid ones, some served a purpose....the only reason I didnt get fired is nobody else wants to work overnights)I think working over nights is greaat for aspies.More independence and they are desperate for people so you have more job stability.
Anywy, hope I didnt bore you but just wanted to throw out some ideas.....(thats what people do when they get old, start handing out advice and talking about their bunyons...mine are fine but I recall some nasty foot rot from being on the street and never getting to take off my boots......hated that, took a few months to heal up........speaking off.....
finally back on topic(hope your not to ADD to read my rambelings),how are your feet?Air them out when ever you get a chance and I found that if I could afford a thriftstore book,I could take one to a quit/simi public place and read without the police harassing me to much for "loitering"....maybe being female helped, mohawk or not, women seem less threatening to society.

I would also suggest that you find someplace cheaper to live than San Francisco, or for that matter California.
I have been homeless quite a few times in my life, the last time being from 1995, to 2002, when I was essentially Homeless by choice. The one thing that I had going for me during that time was the fact that I was almost constantly employed during that time.
I cannot imagine doing the same thing on a fixed income, in one of the most expensive cities in the US. --This is why I suggest that you strongly consider moving to some place cheaper than where you are at now.

I get Medical ( CA's version of Medicare , better , in almost everything than national , I think . ) THose anti-biotics I've been taking , and the diabetes pills , which I SUPPOSE THE cONVENTIONAL wISDOM IS i WILL NEED FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE , ARE PROVIDED BY THEM .
iMPERFECTLY , BUT THEY ARE .
( Whooper . I am at a library computer , I think that I don't have time to correct my mis-taken " yelling " - I am not a traiined typist , and have 2 look at the keyboard when typing . )
...I just haven't eaten too much the last few days , I've gone to thw library/etc and been on the computer , and , much of what food I've had has been junk food .
( I ate okay last night . )
I've just been so tired of going to the charity feed , for one , and eating too much when I do go , and having to ...
I haven't had perscription glasses in ages , just generic...

You've told us what you can't do so tell us what you can do. Taling a pill for the rest of your life in order to control your blood sugar is not so bad. Think of the people who use insulin pumps or multiple injections. You're quite lucky, IMO.

Well ,when you are homeless and stuck in limbo of catch 22 due to red-tape,it isnt always easy to appriciate that you are just in limbo and not actually in hell.Especially when you spend your days just trying to survive and considered subhuman by most of humainty. If your aspie, have no support system and homeless.....not much fun.

Asof now the wound iny foot seems
to have healed but I am still homeless and the police/City guv'mnt are pishing us around a bit now
A problem woth the suggestion to "move aomewhere less expensive" is that what would I do onde I was there? Granted, housing might be less but would much else?
Its not like I have any "friends, to stay with" anywhere...Or,=that som Mayberry-like "idealized small town" wouldn't be somewhere where I was always the outsider
You need a car, really, most places in America, too. Id like one herebut its possible to getalong without one-sort of.

Where are you from again? >.< sorry. Maybe you can get admitted into the hospital-to get things back on track. Yes the billing really bites, but while you are there you could possibly get things back under control, and they have social workers around here that can help out with things-setting you up with the housing authorities (I had a friend who was on disability and had a place to stay for $25 a month there), food stamps, medicaid, all of that stuff until you can get things back in order. I know sometimes housing authorities can take up to 2 years to get into, but you could also possibly get into a... well, not a shelter-but we used to have housing in my area you could get into at the drop of a hat if it was really really needed, and social workers would come there as well to help get you on the right track. They'd help with getting into colleges, help with paperwork, etc., and they would even find temporary jobs
In our area there are also food pantries and such also. But it seems you could maybe really use a social worker to help get things back on track. ...and about the hospital billing-if you are in that bad of shape and all, medicaid shouldn't be too hard to get-as soon as you start on that you can put your card # and all that good stuff on the bill and it'll be taken care of for the most part.
