I don't have trouble with body hygiene. It's pretty much common sense in order to take care of your body.

Yes, it is common sense, but kids don't have common sense when they are little. If you don't teach a kid to do something like shower or brush their teeth then they don't know to do it. Thats why I didn't know to do it, nobody went into details except to say that you should do it when your parents told you to, which is what I did.

Also some people have sensory difficulties that make it very hard for them to shower or brush their teeth. Most suck it up and do it when they have to, but I'd imagine if you had difficulty with it and could hardly stand it that you would do it as little as possible. I don't have that difficulty but that doesn't mean nobody else does.

People have to keep their bodies clean for a variety of reasons.

Why would anybody want to stay dirty?

And yet for some of us it can be a problem. Maybe it's related to specific executive function issues?

I brush my teeth irregularly. I just forget. I have it as part of a checklist before going out of the house--but if I don't have anything planned it might not happen unless I notice that my mouth is gross, or someone in my family lets me know. I almost always forget at night, less often in the morning.

An unexpected event broke my morning routine today, so I did not have a shower as planned. I will try to do it at lunch time, if I don't get distracted.

I don't like being dirty and I don't want to be dirty, but sometimes I am hyperfocused on other stuff and bathing just doesn't occur to me unless it's part of a routine. This is embarrassing to admit.

My wife will sometimes say, as a gentle reminder, "I think you are getting a little woodsy, dear." Then I know what to do!

I almost always shower every night and if I can't I make sure I take one the next morning. It personally makes me feel gross if I don't. I didn't care much when I was little though.

I don't mind showering but I shower every other day partly so I don't have to go to the laundryman as often, it's easier not to do it every day, I don't get that dirty, & my doctor suggested I do it every other day because I have dry skin.
I brush my teeth every day but I don't floss because I have bad fine motor-skills, a tremor disorder that can act up when I'm doing things with fine motor-skills & I have a rare low vision disorder.
I have problems with shaving because of the bad motor-skills, tremor disorder & my vision. I shave about every 6 days in the shower & then I look in the mirror & get spots I may of missed when I get out the shower. The hair doesn't grow as fast thou cuz I take a couple meds to reduce my testosterone because I like having less body hair & facial hair grow, a lower sex-drive & they help slow down male-pattern baldness.
I cant think of any other hygiene issues.

People with a history of sexual abuse might.

I shower twice every week.

I don't bathe until weeks later.

I like showers, I have no problem with hygiene. Actually in fact, I hate being dirty. But my current living situation with a coworker right now, they only have a bathtub in the guest bathroom. I mean it's something, I tried it, I found that I hate it. I feel like I am sitting there in a cauldron of my own filth, it's not going down the drain and I feel stupid in there. I don't like bathes, so I avoid them as long as I can till I feel too grimy to carry on. Which seems I bathe infrequently, every two weeks. Because I don't feel like I am getting clean in a bath anyway.

Even moreso when you been working in a grimy warehouse or gettin' down and dirty with some landscaping on a cold winter's day. XD

I used to shower every day even though I hated it. I don't mind showering itself, I just have low motivation and it takes a lot of it away. I now put hand sanitizer under my armpits to remove any body odor. Now I only shower every other day.

I shower every few days, three times a week, or after exercising or sweating. :eew: Shave my body hair too because it's cleaner without it and less sweaty.
