that is a real skill, unfortunately I don't have the hypnosis genes.

You might be surprised. If someone will follow your suggestions, then they will go under in a minute.

you are very fortunate in that respect. it takes enough dope to swoon a moose to get me to sleep.

I was referring to my own inability to be hypnotized, the shrink told me I was one of the few who needed sodium thiopental.

My anxiety is so bad with the dentist that they have me take a valium before coming in and then use nitrous oxide on me and then I can't fight them so much. They even have to sedate me for simple things like cleaning. It's the only way. I do not do well when my body is restricted, I feel trapped and panic worse...
I really need to go back in... (bad teeth)... but my anxiety at just thinking about going in is so bad...

one thing I usually do is close my eyes and consentrate on the teeth and sensations there, weird to say it that way but when I go in analyze mode it dampens some of my feeling for it.

another thing to note is that I noticed a significant improvement from changing dentist, apparently some dentists are more scary then others.

dentists have lots of competition plus in some states there is allowed a new category of dental provider, "dental therapists." [not licensed dentists but an enhanced form of dental therapist akin to a PA for dentistry] such charge le$$.

Do you live in or near a large city that has a dental school? Dental schools have a program where they have students treat patients under supervision. Its a good choice if you don't have much money or use Medicaid and they can probably do what you need for your needs for possible anesthesia. The disadvantage is, the work has to be coordinated with students schedules and what they need to do and so the work takes a long time, but if you are not working you can have the time to do all this.

I usually listen to a favorite song or video on loop. It helps me stay calm whenever I visit the dentist.
Also, bribes help as well. For example, think of a favorite place nearby the dentist that you like to visit. Whenever I go there every six months, my mom will take me to the nearby mall to eat at IKEA and visit stores that we don't have at our mall such as the Disney Store (ours was replaced by Forever 21, which I do like because they sell cute bath mitts, socks, clothes and even Hi-Chew).
