The ever growing plague of Aspie supremacism
After reading through the forums this morning, there has been a lot of this autism supremacism idea. It reminds me of the white privilege idea that I'd have to hear about all the time in my grad classes. Which made me not want to be in class.
I don't know why people want to act like the kind of people who oppress them. If people bully you and make you feel bad, why do you want to make other people feel that way? It's difficult to read page after page of negative BS when you're trying to help people.
I'm going on a limb here but I'm going to assume that most of them are some of the younger crowd here either in high school or recently graduated. I had a bitter attitude at times as a kid growing up because I didn't understand why I didn't fit in, and it was easier to put the blame on others than it was to accept that I was different.
I don't think that you don't have to go out very far on that limb.

<feeling slightly intimidated here, but I'll give it a try>
Being a "supremacist" is more to do with attitude, I imagine...
This is different from someone making objective observations...
Wouldn't you agree?
A "broad generalisation" is not the same as identifying characteristic clusters...
Some people talk in terms of tendencies/leanings...
These are hardly absolutes...
Wouldn't you agree?
To speak in "broad generalisations" would simply be an indication of faulty methodology or simple ignorance, I would have thought...
It would be indicative of those with a less sophisticated means of analysis, imo..
I haven't researched the subject but there seems quite a large dollop of irony here about autistic supremacists based on what you have said...
No need to be intimidated by me or the subject
The broad generalizations are the result of my real lack of knowledge of motives and thoughts of posters I have never met. All the things I mentioned have been said in multiple posts. They are supremacist statements in that they ascribe higher abilities to aspies then LFA or NT. Unless there is evidence to back it up saying as a group Aspies as a group have a higher sense of justice is also saying NT's have less sense of justice is a supremacist statement. That does not automatically mean that the person who posted the statement is a supremacist, the statement might have come out differently then intended.
Some posters have had a hard time grasping the "Aspie supremacist" concept. The statements I used while real, are also examples to demonstrate the concept.
Because some supremacist statements were miscommunication, and not all supremacists use those statements I can not write a blanket statement "Supremacists state" so and so. I need to use what Wikipedia editors call "weasel words"
Supremacy has it roots in stereotyping and prejudice which is a form of generalization about a group of people.

Like the supremacy towered NT's and LFA supremacy against the self-diagnosed exists. Like the other supremacists mentioned this represents a very small minority of posters here and a some what larger minority in youtube and blog comment sections. Disagreeing with the validity of self-diagnosis IS NOT SUPREMACY. Saying things like self diagnosers are trendy attention seekers who don have "real autism" is a form of supremacy. Critics of self diagnosers are accused of being bullies. IMHO these accusations are the same type of wrong as saying Neurodivergent supporters are supremacists or mostly the self diagnosed (I have seen this claim a number of times).
It all comes down to discrediting a group not on merit but by defining them by their extremists or outliers

For those who asked how I came to my conclusion. It is more of a thing that happened away from the internet. I have been to group meetings regarding neurodiversity and groups for adults with HFA and it seems that many new members in the groups tend to glorify Aspies and talk about how NTs would soon die out as they believe Asperger's is the "next step in evolution". On the internet however from time to time, you find people with more ridiculous belief such as Aspie supremacists who glorify Nazism while outright denying that they would have been killed under Nazi rule. While they aren't big. I have the feeling that that way of thinking is gaining a bit of momentum (on the internet it would probably especially be among Redditers).
It's a natural reaction for almost any marginalized group to have members that develop a "militant" attitude. What these aspies are doing is attempting to create a power block, much like the power block that discriminates against them. I don't think they realize that in this case the numbers of aspies are much too small compared to the much larger power block of NT's, especially since they tend to also discriminate against other autistics. In our situation fighting alone will do us no good, we need public relations because we need NT' s on our side if we want anything to change as far as how autistics are treated.
Because some supremacist statements were miscommunication, and not all supremacists use those statements I can not write a blanket statement "Supremacists state" so and so. I need to use what Wikipedia editors call "weasel words"
Any reasonable, intelligent and enlightened person would...
Otherwise it would be a false/invalid and misleading statement...
Stick a tail on me and call me Mr Weasel... lol
People with extreme views are often much louder than those with less extreme ones, giving the false illusion that extreme views are more widely held than they are.

I believe that, conceptually, neurodiversity and autistic pride have good messages. However, I prefer not to be locked in a box by others and their expectations.
Autistic supremacism comes from feelings of inferiority to non-autistic people. Autistic supremacists are concealing their fear of (perceived or real) bullying by non-autistic people through expression of animosity and hostility towards them. They also tend to attack any autistic person they think is too "high-functioning" (gosh, I hate functioning labels) in a manner interestingly similar to pro-cure people and organizations such as Autism Speaks. One side believes that autistic people are somehow inferior to non-autistic people, while the other believes that non-autistic people are somehow inferior to autistic people. It is like comparing fascism and communism.

The most frequent form of "Aspie supremacism" I have observed relates to the desire to distance themselves from people they classify as "lower functioning" in the eyes of neurotypicals and a deep set desire to be accepted by neurotypicals as having something to offer. I have only really seen a couple of Aspies who are openly hostile to NTs...
