Phones. Yecchhh! I've finally gotten so I don't panic when one rings, but I still usually don't pick up. I've got a cell phone, but I'll only answer if it's my partner, if it's a call I'm expecting and have set up in advance and have mentally rehearsed myself for, or sometimes if it's one of my close friends and I'm feeling particularly brave that day.
I don't like making phone calls either. I always find myself praying that an answering machine or voicemail will pick up. If I'm leaving a message I can compose it in my head beforehand, like I'm writing someone a note. But if there's someone on the other end, I have to finagle my way through polite conversation... *shudders*
Online is just fine. Chatting is just like faster email, for me. Ironically, I find that written/online communication has less "between the lines" that I can't pick up on!
