Since I was very little I would do just anything such as take a step wrong or have an obsession with something and people would always tell me "That's not normal." I figured normal was an insult to who I was and didn't much care.

It's true that no one is normal, but that doesn't mean there's no such thing. Normal is an idea; it's an average. If average were a sequence of letters, and that sequence was ABCDEFGHIJ, everyone would have one or two letters out of place- maybe more. That wouldn't change the fact that MOST people had, on average, the ABCDEFGHIJ sequence.

Yet, being normal or typical would sure make life easier and alleviate much of the stress and confusion.

Only when I do something stupid and embarrassing. Otherwise, I like who I am.

I do sometimes. I am not a social creature, but I am also not comfortable being a total loner in situations where group work is required. I think that once I get out of high school and this tiny town, I won't care very much, if at all. At this time I'm constantly being judged - how well will I fit into a college, how well can I make it in the real world, ect. - and that makes me a little uneasy.

Before I knew what I was (aspie), it bothered me a lot. Now that I understand me better, it's ok.

Ages ago I tried VERY hard to be NT, but to no avail. I try to act "normal" whenever possible (try not to wear my obcessions on my sleeve, try to keep stimming to a minimum, try not to say anything stupid ect.) but after meeting certain people, I now take pride in the fact that I think differently to everyone else.

I am starting to get rather upset about being different again, I feel I will not achieve the things I want to in my life because I have aspergers. I think this is a weak view to have, but it is my current state of mind.

I know I have a long way to go to meet the goals I need to achieve to bring me up to speed with typical people my age.

It depends on my mood. Sometimes I feel kind of special that I have AS. Other times I want to break down because I wish other people would accept me.

It only bugs me that I'm not "normal" because I still haven't fully accepted myself as an aspie. I only discovered that I have this a couple months ago so a lot of this is still getting processed. One thing is certain. My past makes a lot more sense to me now.
I hope through self-forgiveness and compassionate understanding, I won't care that I'm different than your average NT. For me this is a process.

Define "normal". I haven't been able to find one single "normal" person yet, NT or AS.

I'm not diagnosed (self or otherwise) but I've always been proud of being a little strange. Classmates would often tell me "You're weird" and I would respond "Yes, I agree."

Not being normal made it tough to fit in and make friends, but I made a few good ones and I know they're real friends because they stick with me no matter how off I am.

Yes. I do.

And thats what bothers me the most. Not the fact that I'm not normal, but the fact that I care. Such an egotistic flaw... just one of many that I count often.
