Someone else brought this up earlier, I think better choices of words than "conservative/liberal" would be "authoritarian/libertarian" or "hierarchical/egalitarian," because that's what we're really talking about. If an autistic would be lost in a leftist form of anarchism, they would be just as lost in a right wing libertarian society, as the social rules of either one would be equally vague. Ditto for left wing or right wing authoritarianism.

But he is inconsistent. He cites the illegalization of ephedra (the usual starting chemical used in methamphetamine production) as harmful to aspies, and implies that the government meddling is somehow liberal, making "ephedra... nearly impossible to get through reputable suppliers." (Well, of course, it's illegal. If making clear rules solves aspie problems, why does he choose to disregard a very clear law and deal with criminals, rather than get a prescription for a stimulant designed for the purpose?) So he is equating authoritarianism with both liberalism and conservatism, depending on which suits his purposes at the time.

I think his reasoning is messed up.

I've been reading many of the diagnostic criteria, and already many of the features sound like me (along with Steve Urkel, who is not a "nerd", but an Aspie who happens to dress like a "nerd"). I also see a lot of two of my favorite characters on a show (one follows orders blindly because a probable naivete, the other resists change and wants her world to be "perfect"). I, however, don't have the block/puzzle-piece prowess (I got an anxiety attack during one, but excelled in analogies/vocabulary). I see most of me in the symptoms, though. I have the DS version of The Sims 3, who even shows signs of this (she hates crowds and talks on and on about ambition, boring everyone else).

The concept was thought up by some guy who used to troll autism groups and personally attack people for no good reason. I've never thought much of it.
