Oh I'm definitely glued to the computer, I need it to feel 'safe'.

Must... resist... phys.org

I have a standing computer desk, so that helps. Eventually fatigue sets in and I have to move. I won't use my smartphone when outside because there is just too much going on in the environment (trees, clouds, sky, cats, gardens, bugs, and humans, etc). So there's that.

But yeah, totally way way too much. Discovering Wrong Planet, and then deciding to post rather than do my usual stint of 8 months minimum lurking hasn't helped 8O

8 months lurking? How do you manage? I usually jump right in. :P

It usually takes me at least that long just to be reasonably confident that I can post something

Relevant
Not redundant
Not likely to be taken as an insult or sarcasm (even though it is never meant that way)

And that's just to get to the point where I'll reply to a thread.

I'll search for hours before putting up a new thread, just to make sure it's not something that has already been discussed (or that the question hasn't already been asked).

This is a first for me - I've never been on a forum where I felt ok with posting right away like this. I envy you your 'jump right in' habit, though.

I'm usually a huge lurker. The only reason I've been so active here is that I'm freaking out a bit. My wife is clueless about this. The language barrier doesn't help. But, she is from a culture that these things do not exist. Remember, we are in our 50's. So, that means she is really OLD world. Definitely has it's downsides.

But, here...well....it's here

Its "pry" not "prise" (doubt thats a real word).

And the "pry it from my dead cold hands" joke is a reference to Charlton Heston's speech at the NRA against gun control. Not to the Wicked Witch of the West in Oz.

Uh, sorry, but wrong on both counts.

Actually, if you say the words as spelled in a course, horse voice, it would sound like Gollum.

At least it would to my ears.
