Hi Yorkie,

There was trouble responding to one of your threads, so I sent you a Personal Message instead.

I was so worried about this before I got married. For the first 6 weeks neither of us really slept and eventually we decided to use separate duvets. That helped a lot. We both could sleep then (I can't sleep without the duvet between my legs, and I like it tucked all round me so tend to steal it all. Or else not sleep for fear that I will steal it all while I am sleeping). After a while we got used to the sleeping in the same bed and we don't whack each other so much now, and it doesn't matter when we do, which it did to start with. So after 3 or 4 months we returned to the (Super King) duvet and I have a blanket underneath that I can snuggle in. Everyone's happy :) (Our bed is King Size though - would be very tricky if not!)

You just have to find what works for you.
Do you find that keeping the duvet between your legs keeps your hips and spine in alinement when you sleep on your side? I tend to end up on my side and I was thinking of getting a knee sleeping block to put between my knees to keep everything in proper alignment. I have hip alignment issues. I have since I was born and I have to constantly keep working on that.

My main problem with sleeping next to someone is long hair. I enjoy the pressure of hugging someone as I fall asleep. I actually use a pillow to create pressure against my body. Since I've started doing that, I have never "lost track" of my body, and felt like I was falling.

My problem with sleeping next to someone is I hate having hair in my face (it feels like I'm wearing a turtleneck sweater that's made of the scratchiest wool on my face).

Plus, it doesn't make me feel connected to the other person.

How do you feel about bold women or women with very short hair?

I've had a girlfriend with short hair and I can't remember having a problem with that, so I'm guessing that I'm fine with it.

As for bald women I'm not sure.

I do have a light crush on Gail Ann Dorsey, the bass player from the David Bowie live version of Under Pressure. She is both bold and bald. Also an amazing singer/ bass player.

And has worked with David Bowie which makes her doubly awesome!

Yes. As a proper bass player myself, I am very jealous.

I used to have a real problem with it as a teenager/young adult. I would get restless in the middle of the night and have to go off wandering somewhere.

Now that I'm married I find the opposite is true. I have a really hard time sleeping well when my spouse is away from home.

Yeah I don't like it when part of my husband is touching me while I'm sleeping (sorry baby...) . But I do like having him in the bed next to me. When he travels for work I have trouble getting to sleep because things are not 'right' without him there. I think it's what you get used to.
