I wonder how he gets his water input and output then? anyways, here is an alternate form of sensory room which is above it all-

Water was from a bore hole.

thank you but I meant how did he get through all that rock to make the water come in and out?

He just cut and drilled holes in it with saws and stuff and then stuck a pipe through. The house was already there, I think for around 800 years so he didn't have to do too much. I think the floor was cut out a bit and then pipes put in then the flooring on top.

I think it's a holiday home so people can go stay there.

Just bought an electric blanket for my tent, since our basement is essentially an unfinished concrete cube with windows, and can get quite chilly in the winter. In summer it'll be perfect, as it's the coolest room in the house. I think I'll take some pictures of the results when I'm done.

There's reservations on the website so I think anyone can book it.

I came across someone on here who said they had an entire room in their home turned into one giant bed with heated floors. That sounds cool, maybe with the upgrade of soft red LED lighting to give my visual senses a rest, and the bedding would be all made of materials that I enjoy the sensation of touch like satin. I don't know about sound, but some calming quiet music playing in the back ground to drown out the intrusive obsessive thoughts that plague my mind. I think I would like if the room smelled of essessntial lavender oil and not chemicals.

I love the sound of the gentle rain filtering through the ceiling of my tin can, I wish I could somehow bottle that sound and play it back at my leisure. it is as much tactile as auditory.

I haven't read the whole thread, but saw that most of your stuff is tactile or visual. I have a box of assorted marbles. Enough to bury my hands in. They are also good for sorting by size and color mix. They are also cold and heavy when you bury your hands in them. Visual, auditory, sorting, and tactile.

Another thing I like is a bunch of small, pebble sized black river rocks that are left over from when I stuffed my weighted blanket. I got them from a craft store. They served a similar purpose as the marbles.

Another thing I have is an assortment of metal jingle bells. Different sizes, shapes, and colors. I sort them into same sizes and colors and bang or tap them to make repetitive series of sounds. Tactile, auditory, and visual. Good to rock with and shake some in your hands.

Kinetic sand or Sands Alive might be good. Kinetic sand is like brown sugar. Sands Alive is white and feels like bleached flour though less fine and less clingy to your skin.

I also like ceramic and pottery things with splotchy paint. I found one at Dollar Tree. To look at and feel.

A slinky is good to rock with and arch from one hand to the other back and forth.

I haven't read this whole thread so I apologize if someone already mentioned any of these.

Quivers, the marbles thing is a good idea. I was also looking into kinetic sand; I might pick some up from Michael's tomorrow in lieu of the magic sand I had been considering. The lack of water involved will mean less mess. I also ordered a multicoloured glacier lamp (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00G97 ... ge_o01_s00) because I love watching soft, non-yellow lighting; I find it relaxing and mesmerizing. I used to have a lava lamp but I left it on for about two years running, and the wax got all weird from overheating, so it needs replacing. I used to stare at that thing forever.

Noca, the giant bed with heated floors sounds amazing. The soft red lights sound like a good idea too. I'll have to do some research to see what kinds of light are easiest on the eyes. It doesn't really help that the basement where I'm setting everything up has fluorescent lighting as a default, but that's partly what the tent is for, and I can just keep the lights turned off when my mom isn't down there using the space.

I tested out the electric blanket this evening, and my cat loves it even more than I do. He crawled all over me and sprawled out, kneading his claws into the fabric. I left him in the basement lying on it. I unplugged it, but he can soak up the residual warmth while it lasts. I just wish he didn't shed quite so much!

I would have hamocks that can swing slowly or spin, I LOVE SPIINNING. Ball pit, anything rubber and stretchy, music players, LOADS of blankets and something like a burrow i can hide in,

I love rubber stretchy things too. I spent most of my childhood bursting those fluid-filled rubbery ball toys because I was addicted to squishing them and always overdid it.

I love spinning too, but I can't do it too much because I have a weaker vestibular sense and get nauseated from spinning and swinging both quite quickly, which is a massive bummer because I love both of those things! I saw an awesome tilted spinning platform on an autism sensory website once and thought it looked like a lot of fun. I haven't invested in one yet though, because I don't know how much use I'd be able to get out of it practically, no matter how much I wanted to!

In my dream sensory room I would have a crash mat, a trampoline, a swing, a knotted rope hanging from the ceiling to swing/hang on, weighted blankets, lava lamp(s) and other calming visual stimuli (like slowly changing, vividly colored lights), a rocking chair, a punching bag, never-ending bubble wrap and lots of fidgets with bits that click and/or spin, a chin-up bar, music, a medicine ball, foam balls to throw at the walls and rubber ones to bounce off of them, a spin disc, a scooter board, and a hopper ball. And I would sound-proof it.

I like the giant-sized bubbles in bubble wrap. Been a while since I came across any like that.
