Does everyone here have Aspergers written on their report?
I'm just curious.
Mine doesn't say 'Aspergers' anywhere.

I think the word Aspo has a nice ring to it, if you don't like the term Aspie.

(sounds like Astro - a type of round candied chocolate sweet - like a tiny asteroid - so it fits in with the theme of being from another planet...)

Yeah mine does, got it back in 2012 before the merger. The exact wording was "Mild Asperger's Syndrome". Lol there was nothing mild about it back then. I was in a bad place trying to hide my eccentricness so I could feel more normal. Works out though because now I could be described as "mild" in some aspects. I've always been lukewarm to the term Asperger. I remember the week I first read about it in 2012 I also watched the South Park episode Ass Burgers for the first time. That would explain for my dislike of it. I've never liked the term aspie, too cutesy for my taste. ASD is my go to term, I'd use autistic more, but it has such a negative connotation in these parts anyways.

Thank you for answering.
I also dislike the term Aspie.
I'm glad I'm not diagnosed with Aspergers.
I tell people I'm autistic or ASD.

Also, if anyone has seen Divergent (spoilers ahead if you haven't seen it), where society has been split into 5 colonies to preserve humanity, the divergent 'species' being the unique endangered people able to fit in all 5 factions but are classed as a danger to all.

Its quite subjective who would fit in where, but I would see myself as factionless (not as a choice, as in such a dystopian future it would be difficult to rise up against anyone), I don't really fit in anywhere just like how I feel society today does just that.

Divergent, I feel is a lot less condescending than Aspie or Autistic, but it could be the way people say it that makes it unnerving. It does also mean being different to everyone else, either for developing in many different pathways or not fitting in anywhere and being thrown out the system.

Overall it's best to keep quiet about it to be honest.

I've used "spectrumite" when posting here, for convenience, but I agree it sounds like either a microbe or a type of rock.

"The rare mineral spectrumite has been found in a large deposit in Ecuador!"

I don't care much for Aspergian, it sounds like a long dead dynasty in history books. "The Hanoverian rule was eventually overthrown by the Aspergians."

Yes my report says ASD but also Asperger's as I'm in the UK and some clinicians are still crossing over from dropping the Aspergers, as ICD 10 still has it as a term.

I hate the term "aspie". It makes me feel like a little child. Unless I pronounce it like "ass pie", but that's not much better.

(It also reminds me of the French name of the pokemon Weedle, which is Aspicot.)
