How do empty spoons symbolise energy?
And why do you magically get the spoons restored at the start of each day?

Did you read the original article? It's not on the first post here, but it's somewhere on the first page. I can find the link for you if you need.

Thanks. (I read the article)

I don't think I care for the spoon theory.

I don't think people live by the spoon theory. It's just an analogy to explain to well people how we chronically ill people feel.
Yeah, that's how I use it for mental energy. If I could literally dish out the spoons like that, at least I would know exactly when I had to stop. It's an analogy, and one that fits well with how it feels for me at this point in life.

This is possible for some people, but not for others. It depends on the nature of the disability or illness, and also on the individual and their circumstances.
True, and it can also change throughout one's life. I have lost some spoons (mental stamina) in my adult life. Sleep will normally take me back to start (such as start is now), unless something big has happened.
Spoons were never an issue in my childhood.

I have a lot of energy, I don't feel limited by low energy.

I am not talking about present company, but people in my dysfunctional, social and family life. So, please don't be offended.

Talking about spoons is a very gentle, guileless way of putting it.

But, it can be taken to logical extremes.

My more-conceited, ambitious, and preppy "friends" spoke of keeping score. Popularity contests are a sort of game, with points, if you're of that persuasion.

I think most people probably need to be treated this way, to arrive at a functional result.

If you think about it, Aspie fatigue is somewhat along the lines of an overdrawn bank account. For Borderline personalities (sociopaths), it accrues interest and pays dividends.

In general, any attention is considered good attention. They will try to get the most possible attention, while giving the very least.

There are very expensive drugs used to treat neuromuscular disorders like MS--from what I understand, they don't actually give you any more spoons--but just helps you from losing more of them. For some, this is enough of a benefit. Most people don't understand disabilities unless they have a close relative who is disabled.

I think spoons were always an issue for me, but for me its not about having less energy than other people.... It's about how much of my energy I have to use (not all tasks, but enough that it is frustrating) compared to how much of their energy other people have to use.

Maybe for me a better analogy might be that I have a different set of spoons (spoons being analogous to brain wiring).....

So imagine some daily living task(s) as moving soup from a pot to a bowl (or multiple bowls, whatever), and that for some reason pouring the soup directly out of the pot is impossible (maybe the pot is the size of a swimming pool and welded to the floor or something); Where other people have a ladle they can use to move their soup from the pot to the bowl(s) and get it done really quickly, the biggest spoon I have is a wooden spoon meant for stirring things so it takes me a lot more effort and time to move the same amount of soup.

Or imagine some daily living task(s) as scooping really hard frozen ice cream and that all spoons in the world are single-use and made of plastic, and most people have a plastic ice cream scoop along with tablespoons and teaspons in their daily single-use-plastic-spoon-allotment, but I have only plastic tablespoons and teaspoons....most people can use just the one plastic ice cream scoop from start to finish and still have all their tablespoons and teaspoons left over for other tasks, but I have to use up many (maybe even all) of my tablespoons/teaspoons because the handles keep snapping off as I work at scooping the ice cream.

I think many of my spoons are warped.
