Most of us here are not stereotypical autistic people like Rainman. Nor even stereotypical Aspies.

I don't think I fit many of the stereotypes, being good looking, good at sport, independent and so on.

As a qualified person-centred(client-centered) therapist I would be considered questionable as an Aspie.

I was an engineer for most of my life and this would fit nicely into the stereotype for some people.

I will admit the training to be a counsellor was the most difficult task I have ever attempted but the rewards are immense. Mostly due to the deep relational aspect of person-centred therapy. I found out about my ASD near the end of my training because of my difficulties, which was over 5 years.

I do not practice at present because of ill health, but when I do go back I will have all the wealth this site has gifted to me.

Understanding diversity is one of the keys to a satisfactory life.

We would all be less stressed if we could develop reflection skills when it comes to understanding others.
