I hate cops, but only when I'm doing something illegal :P.

Not really. One of my best friends comes from a family of cops. My little sister, who is NT, is afraid of police. She says, "They're too suspicious and they always look like they hate me."

:? I think she's imagining things.

If they accidentally shoot me when they haphazardly send rounds downrange…yeah, I’ll be quite perturbed at said cop or cops; other than that: I hate no one.

I just thought of something. Isn't hatred of all cops very stereotyping? I mean, every individual who works in the police force is just that. An individual. Hating all of them is just as bad as hating every autistic.

People associate "coppers" with authority...too bad if you hate the coppers for being the executive branch of government you must also hate yourself for giving them the authority they have by being a part of the democratic society that votes for the legislative branch of government.

I hold authoritative positions in my work, and many people there don't like me for it.

Well, as you can see I acknowledged that point in a previous post, but I have to re-iterate that it is based on experience, despite my logical reasoning ability. Because I have had so many bad experiences and have been treated unfairly many times, I almost have to try to avoid authority figures if possible simply to keep myself from involuntarily panicking around them. I can't tell the good ones from the bad ones just by looking at them, and I really can't deal with the idea of risking an ordeal that can take a long time to recover from.

I have had good experiences with police officers. One experience stands out. (I am sure some my behavior will sound absurd) I was driving (speeding  ) and this cop was behind me in a truck. He put on his lights but for some reason the logic that he was the police didn't form properly. I thought he might be so I pulled over to the side briefly. I then decided he wasn't so I continued driving (this, of course, is absurd since you are suppose to let emergency vehicles pass, although I thought he was just idling behind me for some reason). Anyhoo, he kept following me and I was signaling for him to go around me, but he didn't. I began to wonder if maybe this was a police officer. I looked in my mirror and he was talking into his radio. I immediately became very nervous inside and pulled over to the next available curb.

The officer came up to my doorside and demanded I get out which I did while trying to explain something (my words probably weren't forming). He was, understandably, rather upset. I was very weak. He yelled and demanded I go the back of the car. I slowly complied while crying and trying to say I had misunderstood the situation. Maybe 30 or 45 seconds after I had my hands on the back of the trunk he understood something was odd about my behavior (I was apologizing, and crying and barely standing). He escorted me back to the front seat and had me sit down. He then talked to another cop that arrived at the scene. He gave me a ticket got speeding, but didn't give me another ticket that could have put me in jail.

I had an unfortunate incident with a police officer where I am almost got killed. At the time I was suffering from Bipolar Disorder, I was very aggressive, angry, anxious, paranoid and suicidal. I came home from work early because I was having trouble coping and I came home early. Without really going into the nasty details of what happened, my dad ended up calling the police. Keep in mind I was suicidal. When the cop arrived I had the knife up to my throat and was threatening to kill myself. What does this cop do? He pulls freaking gun on me! 8O My dad and the other cop had to tell him to put the gun down and their is no need for that. After that he cuffed, and took me to the hospital but he was quite aggresive torwards. The Cheif of Police later apologized to us.

Despite the incident I don't really have any annomosity torwards coips in general, however I don't exactly trust them either.

It depends on the cop. I am on good terms with the school resource officers at my school, we chat about sports, school, and the like. (There are two of them, they work in shifts). HOWEVER... there's a lone traffic cop in Galloway just across the county line who can be and has been a real bastard. Just recently, he pulled over my dad and ticketed him for having expired tags on his license plate, when he had been pulled over and ticketed by a Memphis cop for the same offense only four days prior. The first officer, who was a nice guy, had told him to keep the ticket in his car until he renewed his tags, so he didn't get another one. The second officer, who was a douchebag, didn't give a damn even when my dad gave him the first ticket to prove it. As for the "well its been four days" excuse: uh, hello?! My dad works! He has a real job! He doesn't have to sit on the side of the road and eat donuts and point a radar gun at random passing cars that "look suspicious"! !! I have one thing to say to this guy: Tu eres mucha idiota!

There are two types of cops.

Cops that get the job to help the comminity, and cops that get the job to manipulate and have power over others.

Good cops and pigs.

True, but pigs by far outnumber good cops unfortunately.

What??! !

That is INSANE. Do you live in the United States? That place is quickly becoming a police state because everyone there is so PARANOID because of the way the media sensationalizes and capitalizes on tragedies. Everyone is constantly so terrified there that they're giving up all their rights to privacy and freedom so they can feel more "secure".

Then when things like THIS happen, which are SHOCKING and COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE (that is harassment), people aren't surprised, offended or disgusted. They LAUGH, but it should not be funny.

Well, some blacks here(in the US) say ***THEY*** are mistreated! I was ILLEGALLY stopped(The constution gives them a burder of proof, and the law has codified that they must have a REASON to stop you) by a WHITE police officer. I'm a white male. Anyway, it was VERY late, and he stopped me. He got ANGRY with me, and said he almost SHOT me for exiting my car! HEY, it was LATE! I was TIRED! ETC...! He then asked me where I came from, and I TOLD him! HE claimed the street was in the other direction, and I was WRONG! He asked if I was drinking, and said I looked nervous! LUCKILY, he didn't do any more.

I have not been treated well by police. My father hasn't either! My MOTHER was persecuted even as she was dangling near DEATH! The police officer tried to implicate her in a MAJOR accident! I, my father, and my mother are all WHITE! If you are black, don't assume this is a racist thing!

BTW It turns out we were BOTH right! This street was where I said AND where he said!

Oh yeah, This was in California, USA!

Steve

Between being shoved against a car without provocation at 16, being yelled at/cussed out by one without provacation at 20-something, and recently being accused of lying and being uncooporative when this was not the case, I have had no good personal experiences with cops.

But do agree. If I went by my personal experiences alone, i would say they are all bad... but I give them the benefit of the doubt in general as I'm sure there are good ones with good intentions...

I have also, I know there are some that will hate you for being that figure alone, even if you are overly fair and objective. However, many cops abuse their power, and I've personally experienced this in each situation I've been in.. and I'm STILL giving them the benefit of the doubt in general...
