Sometimes the parents are worse than the kids.

Frenetic kiddies seem to be the least of my worries in those blinding blast zones, the booming tannoy, slamming and bleeping cash registers, unpredictable muttering swell, crashing stock market soured serenade of the shelfscum, trilling scanners, raucous trolley jittering... then tip into the hideous cornucopia the ungodly fluorescent frisbee tossing, endless reflective surfaces and jarring colour assaults... the stench of the fish section always knocks me sick, I wanted to walk in a supermarket not take a nose dive into a harbour! I'm not even going into the information overload clashing with the orderly list you have stamped in your brain to survive a supermarket assault trip... not my fave places, probs why I have always tend to sneak there at night!

I work at a a supermarket. Nobody can handle that s**t all day. It's extremely satisfying though to call out in acommanding voice "Slow down, please!" and have them listen because I'm this tall, broad-shouldered, deep-voiced guy in a uniform.

My advice if you don't want to hear annoying brats is to go after about 7 PM. They're all home, by then. You'd think during the day would work, but then parents are bringing kids too young for school.

   To the old lady, who scared those kids. :D

But, the parents should be embarrassed, not you.

Which is maladaptive -- the dislike of grating noise, or making said noise.

Everyone can't stand screaming kids. It's an evolutionary thing. It helps us pay attention to them. I've learned to ignore them.

Oh good lord, I hate screaming toddlers with a passion. IF they are screaming for no reason whatsoever. And the parents barking orders at their kids, loudly, for everyone to hear. That's one reason why I DON'T want kids. This commonly happens at large supermarkets (i.e. Walmart, Fred Meyer, etc). But you know where I've heard them frequently in the past?
THE PUBLIC LIBRARY!! :x

Libraries are supposed to be a reasonably quiet place for people to read, study, use computers and check out items. Lately I've noticed a trend of screaming toddlers at the library. Why are they screaming in a quiet zone? I will never understand this! A couple of years ago I witnessed four or five kids yelling and loudly talking to each other in the library. Parents never gave one crud about it. Ugh.

I tend to feel uncomfortable around kids but I don't actually hate kids it's just that I'm never sure what to say or how to act around them. Also I really can't stand supermarkets even when I have to go grocery shopping or get the chance to buy something I want for myself because they tend to have rude customers sometimes and I always get the feeling that I'm being judged and possibly mocked by people who don't even know me the moment I walk inside to start shopping.

Oh my God, this happens in my local library too. Literally every time I go in there, there are always chavvy mums or dads with loud screaming kids. There is a place sectioned off for parents with young kids in this library, and there are toys and games to occupy the kids while the parents are using computers. But sometimes when there's not a computer available there they come and use a computer is the areas where it should be quiet. And some let their kids run riot.
