Well I say they have an understanding, I guess they don’t help in any way - they have always just left me be and didn’t interfere with my life too much, which could perhaps be considered distant.

At the moment they haven’t questioned or objected to it and they also haven’t asked me too much about it or pressured me into giving anymore information than I wish to give, which for me is great.

Before I learned about things like personality disorders or autism I often wondered if the way I am is because I was left to myself growing up and maybe the reason I was a bit useless socially was because I was never taught certain social cues or mannerisms - as if everyone else had been sat down and taught some kind of social ettiquette class that I’d missed out on.

I’ve borrowed my mum a book on Aspergers I’ve been reading and I’m pretty much expecting her to turn round to me when she’s read it and say she relates to an awful lot of it.

As for my friends, yeah they’re good. They don’t talk about relationships and stuff that I can’t handle and we all have a dark sense of humour so I can talk as much crap as I want and they’re more likely to find it funny than be offended or whatnot.

I only have maybe 2-3 good friends and a few more acquaintances I get on well with, but anyone else out of a fairly select circle and I clam up and sometimes don’t say much at all never mind talking about anything too personal
