Are all of these men from your area or have you tried dealing with ones who are from elsewhere in the country or from entirely different countries and cultures? Maybe you'd have an easier time with dealing with men from some other culture... are you from a big city that has population from different places? Or just a small town?
I grew up in a very small town a long way away from here and now live in a town of 90,000 people. Though this town isn't that large it has year round tourists visiting because it's a seaside resort. Where I live is fairly average.
I think my issue with men seems universal. I have had this issue all over the UK. I could possibly find men from another culture easier to deal with, I'm not sure about that.
As an American, one thing that has always struck me about the U.K. is, how much bullying there is on the street compared to in the U.S. It does seem like there are a lot of guys in the U.K. with something to prove. I'm not saying that street bullying never happens in the U.S. but a lot of the things I've seen take place in the U.K. would be quite socially inappropriate and shocking by American standards. For example, we don't really have sports hooligans or gangs of middle aged working men walking around vandalizing the city and being jerks. Our gang members are proper criminals.
I think that probably depends on what part of the US you are in here in the UK that sort of behaviour tends to happen far more in welfare dependant areas.
