The popular narratives won't work for you. There isn't a simple explanation that helps put a pretty bow on reality. You can't just blindly accept what your culture told you, and you feel little pressure to fit in by adopting those views.
You also see a lot of how people are being manipulated once you start analyzing non-verbal communication and hierarchy mechanics.
The human social game appears increasingly sick to you... like they're evolved primates fighting ruthlessly for survival and reproducibility while using deceit (and frankly weaponizing empathy) as the primary aggressive tool. Most of it is done through instinct and isn't consciously realized by most.
Try dispelling the illusion of social normalcy to NT's. See how they react. Many of them can't grapple with it, and those that can are abnormally cynical. For some, trauma due to "losing the social game" will reveal it.
It's in the wiring, which is why they don't get it. In their world, everyone has the basic skillset to be effectively social. Most never question the basis of how and why their relations manifest as they do throughout life. Casting out the awkward person who struggles with grooming regularly, misses all the jokes, and doesn't keep 2-way conversation.... well that's just natural! What did they expect behaving like that?!
You see...they don't think about how it works until they 'have' to.
