Aw, crap! Sorry about that! Didn't mean to derail. Carry on!

I'm shocked, shocked that there is thread derailing going on in Wrong Planet.

You were not the poster who brought up your posting style. But since it was derailed it gave me a chance to say something that I and apparently others wanted to say anyway.

I think there is more negativity among many people at large rather than only being something plaguing WP. I think that has to be taken into account.

I would agree with this! the impact that social media is having on our psyche is easily underestimated, esp after years of exposure, you forget what it was like without it. I was a very happy lil weirdo just reading and drawing and happy in my shell. I still am in some ways, but the informational overload has made me much more cynical about the world.

ideas are contagious! I think it would be good to have a space to discuss mental health related stuff. I think the haven is good for that? this place is great for solidarity but also seeking professional help is important :)

Blow smoke up his arse if you want but I'll think you'll find Fnord brought up the topic of Fnord

But it was hardly derailing in my opinion , it's par for the course here.

The Haven is essentially THE sub-forum for discussing mental health issues without fear of being blamed and shamed.

It would also be nice if those seeking help would not have a verbal melt-down at the mere suggestion that at least some of their issues are self-generated, and that maybe those issues would be resolved if they tried -- I mean, sincerely tried -- a little self-improvement instead.

That is not to say that a lot of people do not have really serious issues that require professional intervention to resolve (if they even can be resolved), but that it still requires the person with the issues to reach out to a professional for help on their own.

In my honest opinion, the "Bipolar, Tourettes, Schizophrenia, and other Psychological Conditions" sub-forum is useful only for informational discussions of these conditions, as it does not carry the same "Thou Shalt Not Hassle" impetus of The Haven.

The concurrent story here on wrong planet isn't much better. Most of the folk who have stuck around here are going though a rough patch in life and need support, but with very few positive members left, there are few people to cheer them up....

I don't know what to tell you dude. I try to cheer people up, but I suck at it.
