Everyone in my school would use the term "weird" as an insult. It's kind of an orthodox Jewish thing. Even parents would say things like, "You can play outside when you're normal," or "Stop being SO weird!" implying that being normal is what one must strive to be. They also implied that they had a very limited vocabulary because orthodox Jewish children aren't allowed to read books that aren't written by other Jews, so their literary knowledge is extremely limited. (And I'm the weird one!) Being the weird one in an already ostracized community is a whole other story. However, I always enjoyed being weird. I enjoyed being different. I enjoyed looking down on others and their silly little dramas that no one cares about but them, but they still feel the need to tell their story to every person they encounter. I enjoy seeing society from the perspective that I view it from. And I can tell ya, it's a beautiful disaster.

I think it's quite normal that people perceive me as weird and hate me or like me for that. I'm used to it.

That sounds enormously abusive! It's not allowing you to be who you are.
No wonder you distanced yourself from the society and prefer to see it from the outside. This way you can be yourself.

Thankfully, my father was and still is a weirdo himself, so he never used that term when I was a kid. I'd just hear it whenever I'd be over at someone else's house. It was always used when a child was trying to attract the attention of their older sibling's group of peers. Whenever I'd go over to someone else's house from school, I always thought that their younger siblings were way more fun and interesting, to be honest.

Never.

I was diagnosed due to my executive function problems, sensory processing disorder, and poor coordination. Never had a single social problem, never came across as weird to anyone. I understand social cues naturally. I'm totally normal and NT except the other things qualify me for an AS diagnosis. Like NTs, I consider the lot of you people weird.

...This is BS of course, but the question itself is absurd. Can't imagine any Aspie who has never been considered weird by NTs. Perhaps some weren't aware of being considered weird, but they were...

Yes. Not many wanted to be friends with me in school, as I was the really weird kid who studied poisons. You would have thought that would have scared away bullies but that was just not the case. Some people like to play with fire until they get really burnt by the flames.

NTs see me as being weird, because I am. I'm proudly weird.

Sadly, people have taken advantage of me for being considered a "vulnerable" person. Being from the wrong planet, I'm not fully used to the ins and outs of social skills, so I tend to commit faux pas sometimes. Bullies tend to be drawn to me because of this, but I usually find a way to quietly deal with them.

I've been through worse. Before my AS was detected, and before ASD was DSM-d to mainstream notoriety, I had only an NLD diagnosis, and as none of my classmates knew what it was, I had a 5th grader, when I was in 6th grade, ask me if I had brain damage. If I could go back in time, to that moment, I would punch him.

The whole time.

I've always been, at minimum, considered "eccentric."

I've always been weird. Not interested in 'normal' things, not reading 'normal' books, not terribly interested in other kids. Too smart, too pedantic, too blunt. There were probably a lot of smaller things that I didn't even notice that marked me as 'weird'.

By the time I was a teenager my classmates had gotten used to me and I'd gotten better at, well, at keeping quiet and not confronting them with my otherness. I was still more comfortable with their parents, at least some of them. I think adults were a bit more accepting, but I think they also followed more consistent rules themselves, so it was easier for me to reason about what to say and how to act.

As I got older, I was more and more able to choose to associate with people who really didn't care about the little stuff. At the same time, I've learned a lot about 'normalcy' - I have a broader set of not-quite-scripts and more knowledge around when to apply which of them. That really helps with the less structured social stuff, which is probably also where NT's get creeped out without really knowing what's wrong.

I mean, I don't think many people expect me to remember exactly what they said at the time they said it...but at least I always have an answer when people say 'when did I say that?' when they try to pretend it never happened :D

yes. other people think i'm strange. I do.
The cook county school system did me the profound disservice of moving me ahead by 2 grades. this meant that I was the smallest and smartest kid in the class from then on. I guess they didn't want it to be easy for me. Incompetence makes me sick, especially when it creates a disastrous life for me. I was clearly gifted, and i have felt punished by them ever since for the crime of being intelligent.
my social development was stunted to nothing from then on. not only did they loathe me for being smart, I was the emotional toilet for other bullied kids to pick on. It's a major reason I view the normies as cruel morons.
I failed to thrive due to emotional abuse from an age of 3 or so, and I was tiny and weak, quite small for my age.
In high school I was the second smallest person among a school body of 3000. the only one smaller than me was a tiny beautiful Chinese girl, but as an example of incomprehensible cruel irony, her boyfriend was the tallest basketball player.
On the plus side I escaped this cruel rat circus at 15, a year ahead.
They robbed me of a year I desperately needed to grow and develop. I did not achieve a reasonable height until I was in my early 20s.
Serious Question: I wonder if I could sue them somehow because of this injustice and manifest incompetence at education. It was the beginning of my ruination and isolation from their wretched society of enforced mediocrity.

They [b]handicapped
me.Deliberately. To erase any unfair advantage i might have over the morons.
Like in the story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut, everyone was mandated by law to be equal by being deliberately handicapped . On pain of death if you were found without your handicap. It really was the beginning of my isolation.
Those bastards. those brainless bastards. I might have done great things instead of becoming an old broken man now.
Perhaps I would have been the researcher that stopped the great plague that will inevitably cull them by the cruel uncaring hand of Darwin.
Darwin is like a lawyer. and lawyers always get paid. And Darwin always takes his fee. In our living flesh.
Good.
The problem is many good people will die along with these unfit culls.
maybe a million years down the line the raccoons will do a better job of it than these f*****g idiot primates.
...
Sorry about the rant, I haven't thought about this in about half a century.

Many times. Although whenever I tell someone I have Asperger's, they always say, "Oh, but you don't even look/act like you do!" Okay, Karen. You just met me; you will eventually realize how weird I truly am. To be serious though, I've had my peers be quite mean to me because of how weird I was. They called me ret*d, stupid, etc. Yeah, school for someone like wasn't a walk in the park.
