Back to the original question, I dunno. I've spoken to some ASD people who do need more than NT's typically do (I think they average 6-7 hours/night in the US), but I don't know enough ASD people nor have I ever read/heard of any studies on the issue to say what the average is for someone on the Spectrum. I tend to average 7-8 hours/night, but I can function reasonably well on even 5 or 6. And I have had a full day on no sleep, which, let's just say, is not fun. My sleep has improved since I started on Sertraline and Ziprasidone about a year ago, but when I started on executive functioning meds a few months ago, the stimulants were way to strong for me and sometimes kept me up all night. I've been on Atomoxetine for about 3 weeks now, which isn't a stimulant, and so far it's had no side effects including on my sleep.
