Oh dear. There is one person called Eric Harris who has received a lot of hate mail due to the Columbine killer who had the same name.

I wouldn't name my son Ollie. Then again, my last name isn't Tabooger, so I'm not sure what my hang-up is about.

My name is Ben. I can think of akost 5 other Bens famous and non-fmaous off the top of my head. And their's many words that make the same sound:

bin
been
binge
ben (yes, it's an actual word too)
Benji
Benjamin (my real name)

It took my parents a year to name me, and this is all they could come up with. Yay!

Other names to avoid....

Britany (too common)
Caitlyn (too common)
Micheal (or anything like it)
Bob (Robert,etc.)

Joe
Other really common names

I wouldn't mind naming my kid Yahtzee or Monopotwasha. Or maybe Sunflower.

Probably not Garfield.

My sister was talking about naming her daughter "Alaska" earlier today. Ally for short. I thought 'laska for short was better.

Caitlin isn't THAT common! Besides, I liked it before it became trendy! Gah! Damn trendy names!

I wouldn't give a child an overly trendy name. Neither would I give a child a name with one of those ghod-awful "creative" spellings. I've had a lifetime of people misspelling and mispronouncing my name, and my name isn't even that unusual anymore.

As many of you would notice, many of the names in the list on my previous post were prank phone calls to Moe on the Simpsons, and speaking of the Simpsons, I wouldn't name my kids most of the names that are used on the show, too weird. Like:

Bart
Marge
Homer
Maude
Seymour
Waylan
Montgomery
Julius
Clancy
Moe
Abraham
Jasper
Diamond Joe
Snake
Lionel
Hans
Dolph
Kerney
Jebediah
Santa's Little Helper
Snowball
Itchy
Scratchy...

I'm sure there's some good ones I've missed.

people with first name based lastnames (Robertson, Johnson, Michaelson etc) naming their kid the same thing:

John Johnson
Jack Jackson
Robert Robertson
Michael Michaelson
Peter Peterson
Steven Stevenson

yuk!

If i ever meet Boutros Boutros Boutros's parents, I will slap them in the face

I've heard of some people, like who named their kids silly names after food, silly characters, or even favorite t.v. channels; like Meatloaf, ESPN, and Zarthon. I've heard of actual kids who've been named those. I, however, wouldn't name any of my children in the future those kinds of names since I don't want my kids ridiculed or looked down upon in their lives. I'd rather name my kids names like Owen, Michael, Peter, Luke, Jamie, Gwyn...you know, those kinds of names that sound good and strong; not the name Meatloaf or something like that to make the kids teased for a long time only to make the parents have a laugh or two.
