^^Some cool alternative modes of transport for him!

May this be a special time for all. If you have no one to share it with, consider treating an animal or two with something special. A sad day for lonesome animals in shelters, and also a time when (in the Northern Hemisphere) it's tough for some wild animals/birds to find food.

Also, spare a thought for those humans who have nowhere to go or no one to share the day with for various reasons.

Bah! Humbug!

I’m lying here with my annual bout with bronchitis.

I was supposed to be out of my current residence by the end of the year. Unfortunately, the County Housing Authority Waited until this past Friday to inform me my apartment won’t be ready until February 2020. At least my current landlord is allowing me to stay here after I gave him notice back in November, as long as I keep current with my rent.

To add to my depression, I get a $400.00 hospital bill for orthopedic services, due to adhesive capsulitis, aka frozen shoulder syndrome, which is past due. While I applied for financial aid from the hospital when I started therapy, it was denied, as their financial aid department does not consider the statements from my Green Dot debit card (where my SSDI is deposited each month) to be a legitimate financial instrument. They also stated I never sent them this information, even though I sent them the requested information twice!

Finally, I get a nasty letter from a debt collector, notifying me I am in arrears with Usenext.de. One small problem: I cancelled that service during their trial period over 3 years ago! After doing some research, I find out Usenext.de is a scam!

And people wonder why I’m always in a foul mood?

I appreciate your sentiment, but I see everything as interconnected. While it is possible for a human to increase the overall productivity of a patch of unlucky land, that is not generally what happens when we feed others. Usually, there's less total food produced when we decide what it will be, and it is all at the expense of the natural world. To feed a dog, we starve a wolf. The difference is that a smaller canid then likes us, or at least becomes dependent. I tried the recipes for vegan cat food, and a stray cat ate enormous quantities of it, retaining very little, and returned to the street after 3 weeks of that and warmth. The Amazon rain forest is being burned for beef even though the soil is unsuitable, and many species are going extinct before we even know what they might do for us.

I have gone to gatherings of people who have no other Christmas activity to go to, and they are pretty dismal, just reminding us of why we didn't want to see each other the rest of the year. I have my usual projects to pass the time; I just don't have the option of going visiting and finding people without plans. I'm even celebrating some successful tinkering today after years of false starts, so I am merry, just not seasonally so.

Ah yes, you have some strong points. You must do what you are happy and comfortable with, and not feel you have to follow preconceived ways or do what "everyone else" does. I too am very disturbed about what's happening to the Amazon rainforest and other precious places - lungs of the Earth. If only there was something concrete we could do except tend to our little bit in our small corner of the world. I do believe some if not all of us on the spectrum care a little more than most.

I understand that Christmas is not merry, happy, or filled with warmth and good feelings for all. That is what the wishes and blessings are for, for you, and maybe it will be even slightly better.

The world problems are still there. Our personal financial problems are still present. Our health isn't any better because it is Christmas. Way too many people emphasize the commercial aspect.

It is, however, a time when at least some people extend goodwill to their fellow folk.

Quakers don't actually celebrate Christmas as such. Quakers believe that each day is as important as another and do not celebrate any particular day as better as an other.

My wishes and goodwill are extended to all on this Christmas because it is still a special day to much of the world, in a time when there is so much sorrow, loneliness and distress.

I realize some will not be comforted by my efforts, but even so, I hope some will and that others will find comfort in some other manner.

Oh, yeah! This is a town where people wave at each other a lot. I feel like a Prince on parade. Today, I can say "Merry Christmas" instead and get one back. But, everything is closed, so there's no reason to go out except to look at the lights. I do put some up.

I was reading in a recent newspaper about a resident and former homeless guy from a neighbouring town, who gets sponsorships from local businesses and supplies a great breakfast and Christmas dinner for homeless and street people. His heart is in the right place and that's the spirit of Christmas at work.
