Ever noticed that people don't really answer your questions?

I find that people listen to me when the need my help, after it has become obvious that I am the only one that can help them.

I've always been very good at getting stuff done. I can easily drop in and out of a flow state and do repetitive tasks efficiently. But, what has been invaluable is the realization that I need to be more selective in what I do. Often what is asked isn't what needs to be done. I need to figure out what needs to be done before I do it.

I've seen that so often that I try to limit myself to asking one question per email. I've often wondered why they're so lax as to overlook my other questions, and I suspect one explanation is simply that a lot of people these days are in such a hurry that they don't really read things very carefully, nor do they listen carefully. They just skim off the first thing they notice and hope it'll do.
