Questions if we DSM should bring back PDD once again
Being classified as having PERVASIVE developmental disorder might help me a lot in my life since 2008. Without it I might be without adequate support, also in financial area. I have no "narrow mind", I am poor in managing with sensory discomfort (I HATE physical suffering) but I do not have unusual sensory processing - I just "not tolerate" physical pain or discomfort (for example during shower or after it).
I think that ASD, SCD and social NVLD are among conditions which should be grouped in one subcategory of developmental disorders in future editions of ICD or DSM (that subcategory should exclude developmental disorders which do not cause social inadequacy (ineptitude and, especially, diiminished social interest or motivation) and peculiarity ("quirkiness", "oddness") like dyslexia or dyscalculia).
I agree!
I think that all mental disorders that is caused by known and unknown genetic mutations, deficiencies to environmental factors, but caused social inadequacy should be part of the Autism Spectrum, Pervasive Developmental Disorder or other Communication Disorders
Ok so Intellectual disability. Could potentially cause social inadequecy. Global developmental delay would surely cause it. dyspraxia might depending on what definition of it we are using. there's developmental verbal dyspraxia which surely would, as it causes you to have difficulties talking and making sounds. I don't think we can include adhd, However. NVLD would cause social difficulties althought has never been included in the DSM or ICD. might be able to include tourrete's but i wouldnt' really say it would cause social inadequecy. Communication and language disorders would be included in this category. Scizophrenia would also be in it. So like 2 out of those wouldn't be added into this? A Category that includes the vast majority of developmental disorders is a pointless category.
I personally think that definitely I have to disagree with your opinion. Not every developmental disability made a person "oddball" or "weirdo". People with ASD are often "named" as "weirdos" and "oddballs" by "normal" people. I think that there is the same with ones with SCD or "social" subtypes of NVLD. BUT someone who has just dyslexia or dyscalculia is (generally) not labelled "oddball" or "weirdo". Not every neurodevelopmental disorder has to make you eccentric or "bizarre".
Social NVLD and SCD definitely have to be grouped in one category with ASD IMO. The same with developmental, childhood-onset schizoid or schizotypal disorders or maybe any childhood-onset cluster A (odd-eccentric) personality disorder. For me the key features of PDDs and different sorts of autism are oddness and eccentricity since childhood, pre-adolescence.
I agree that all mental disorders or schizoid or schizotypal disorders should be a form of ASD, if it is caused by genetic mutations, deficiencies to environmental factors

I agree, because early childhood schizoid disorder means schizoid' children were characterised by solitariness, unusual fantasies, special interests, and specific developmental delays, especially of language-related skills. They were of average or above-average IQ, and half presented with other, common, child psychiatric syndromes.
That could also mean Autism

'Schizoid' personality in childhood and adult life. III: The childhood picture
"Abstract
The childhood case records of 32 'schizoid' children and 32 matched controls were analysed. 'Schizoid' children were characterised by solitariness, unusual fantasies, special interests, and specific developmental delays, especially of language-related skills. They were of average or above-average IQ, and half presented with other, common, child psychiatric syndromes. It is important to distinguish 'schizoid' children from children with reactive psychiatric disorders."
So, I think that ASD and SCD or any other communication disorder should be called 'Autism Spectrum, Pervasive Developmental Disorder and Other Schizoid Developmental Disorders'

My theory is that Autism is just simply Schizoid or Schizotypal Personality Disorder, that is caused by known and unknown genetic mutations, deficiencies to environmental factors.
This Schizoid or Schizotypal Personality Disorder comes from early childhood and it is a developmental disorder.
