Is there even a definition for "woke?" I'm also hearing about "Intersectional" which has something to do with having more than one problem, but I suspect that the list of problems that can be included is not complete.
One of the most glaring inconsistencies I deal with is Canada's study on missing and murdered indigenous women and girls. It was years in the making, and is very widely quoted, but it adamantly ignores twice as many men and boys. This makes sense to our deep instincts, because the size of our next generation is not hurt by losing a few men, but the women can't do the work of two. 75% of the women survived the Titanic, saved by men who were not keen on letting them vote. Yet the feminists would have us believe that women have no advantages, except those recently taken from men.

I have specifically said that everyone online is pretty much dickish, especially on twitter.

A lot of what people call 'Woke' is just 'not being a dick to LGBT people'.

Agreed that what follows may not be better. I get the strong impression that "not being a dick to LGBT2S people" means being able to seriously consider them as lovers. It isn't live and let live, it's a demand to mix.

I think the internet encourages problems.

Maybe because of the weird indoor outdoor nature of it. I'm currently in bed typing this But I'm typing to all the forum members reading & guests reading. That might be dozens of people.

We've only had a decade or so of that being likely the case. Only about 30 years going online and talking to strangers from the comfort of our own homes.

I think even us 'digital natives' and kids who're growing up on phones don't have it exactly established how to have good netiquette with all that in mind.

The typical way in the past was: act different when you go out. On the telephone, you're likely to only get family/friends so treat it like you've invited them round to your place. Which isn't the same thing as being alone at home or only with close family at home - not as relaxed. When you go out, there will be people who think differently to yourself and act differently & if you don't like it, just don't welcome them as friends.

Nowadays a lot of people feel the need to control the internet like it was an extension of their home. But it's actually for everyone. A 'woke' person shouldn't berate someone for not having pronouns in profile, just don't follow them if they don't like that. A conservative like my dad shouldn't do what my dad does and tell people off for saying swear words, he should just not interact with that person. But when it's your own home? Harder to think like that.

I don't really know the solution for this. But modded forums such as this one - while not avoiding arguments entirely - creates a bit more of a pleasant discourse than social media does. I think having an unlocked Twitter account is pretty foolish tbh, it opens you up to a barrage of abuse from strangers. Yes including left wing strangers. Yes including people who are likely not to be that foolish irl. People are overly comfortable online.

Those kinds of people are idiots. I know who you mean but I doubt they exist in the real world. Remind them 'only yes means yes' and move on. Preferably without saying 'no, you're a bloke' to a trans woman.

Thankfully, I don't have people having a go at me here, if I make an innocent mistake.

Well, I remember *one* person who didn't like me asking about the LGBLTxyz123 community via a poll question, but overwhelmingly, I don't seem to be triggering people.

She is an intelligent young woman (she is a 'women', rather than a girl, now, right? Time flies), but I think a lot of her beliefs have come from her parents.

Having said that, I haven't heard what she is 'disseminating', these days. I think covid may have taken centre stage.
