Thanks for the kind thought! Actually, I used to have, not tons, but lots of people queuing up for friendship, but either my Aspie quirks caused misunderstandings, or as my illness grew worse, people stopped including me in things, because they assumed I would not be able to participate. And of course there were those who only sought to exploit me. (But that's a whole other story.)

I think what's scaring me is that as I get older, I actually prefer isolation and not being social. I used to crave social connection and seek it out, but more and more I prefer to be alone.

I have the same feelings, but whilst I find it an interesting feeling, it is not 'scary', I think it is because I have merely learnt to accept myself rather than trying to be like others.
