pea, sap, paper, ape
Possible arguments:
If the criterion for inclusion is that the word be 3 letters long, then the odd one out is paper.
paper has 2 syllables; all the other words have 1.
sap is the only word out of the 4 containing the letter /s/; also it is the only word not containing the string /pe/.
pea because it is the only word not containing the string /ap/.
Oh, and the only animate thing in the list is ape.
You could also make a case for pea being the only word out of the 4 to have a vowel sound in word-final position, except that this is not true where a non-rhotic dialect is spoken.
You put a hat on a head....you put gloves on a hand, wheres the difficulty, it should be easy for you as well if your good a vocab, especially 4th grade vocab.
How about....
DOCTOR : HOSPITAL ::
(A) sports fan : stadium
(B) cow : farm
(C) professor : college
(D) criminal : jail
(E) food : grocery store
This should be easy...
I don't get it. What are they talking about? What's the point to the question? This is the one of the reasons why I score low on these IQ tests because I don't understand what the question means and how I'm supposed to answer it. Maybe I am not really smart after all and the doctors just messed up with my IQ when I was 12. They said I was above average but maybe they messed up the tests?
I know food is in a grocery store, I know criminals go to jail, I know professors work in college, I know cows live on a farm, and I know sport fans are likely to go to the stadium to see the games. Are they asking about career since they said Doctor hospital? If so, I'd pick professor college.
I have always needed explanations about stuff. You can;t tell me one simple thing or I won't get it. Tell me to "clean the bathroom" and I would just stand there because I know know what I am supposed to do. Clean what? Do I clean the toilet, the sink the bath tub, do i need to sweep? What do I clean in there? I need a piece of paper with instructions on it telling me what to do. My mom found out I needed more words to explain stuff for me to understand. I have read and heard that aspies have troubles with verbal commands like Do the dishes. But once I have been taught how to do something, I won't need all these steps so give me a verbal command I have already been taught and I know what I'm supposed to do. But if it's somewhere else, boom everything starts over, start from scratch again.

My example was very easy. Yours on the other hand would have me running in circles until I just decided to give up on it and pass on to the next question. I can make logical, valid arguements for every answer being correct depending on what the conotations are on either Doctor or Hospital. In what manner is the doctor related to the hospital? Perhaps the doctor doesn't even work in a hospital or lacks privledges at a hospital? Is it a hospital or a clinic? does it have an ER? Surgery?
It's all well and good to say "you're thinking too much about something" but words, at least for me, do not exist in a vacuum. Each word has its own life and connections to the world around it. They have their own flavor and feel.
Hello,
That sounds like me. I think maybe it is a tendancy to think in circles. I do that a lot because of the way words have their conotations. Sorry. I have a hard time making sense of this but it is sort of like the words could mean anything. Sort of like when someone says things about time. I get confused becuase I think of all the ways it could be taken and how many different times it could mean, especially things like "In three days." I wonder if they mean days as in 24 hour rounds, or from this day, with today being day one or tomorrow being day one. I know what you mean though it is hard to explain, i think it is that same idea though of thinking in circles.
