If I'm not mistaken, the questions are randomized, which makes me wonder how reliable any such test is.

Only the order in which the questions appear is randomized. The reason for this is to get more reliable question-question correlations (they tend to increase if similar questions are placed after each others).

Another reason is that the five control question pairs should be randomly ordered so people don't know which questions are used for consistency checks. ;-)

A third reason is to "mix-up" the ordinary questions that counts with experimental question that are being evaluated. Currently, 17 questions are experimental.

Yeah but that makes it hard to see what is fully reliable when someone has taken the quiz many times. At least that's what I make of it. I've done it several times and I've gotten a range of about 20pts or so difference over the past like 4 years. *shrugs*

Your Aspie score: 172 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 27 of 200
You are very likely an Aspie

Main LSAS-score: 65 of 144

You have marked social phobia

My social anxiety is weird because, whilst I get terribly wound up about meeting people and what they think of me, I have no trouble whatsoever speaking in front of an audience. For instance;

Expressing disagreement or disapproval to someone you don't know very well - no problem with this whatsoever!! !! !! !!
Giving a prepared oral talk to a group - ditto

Talking face to face with someone you don't know very well - arghhh
Meeting strangers - ditto

When does the LSAS test NOT give the message "You have marked social phobia"? It seems to me that they want to categorize anyone who isn't a party animal into a phobia because its "not natural"...

It is easy to see which questions are reliable in the last 4 versions. It is only the reliable questions that are listed in the PDF. They are also listed for importance (how much they contribute to scores).

I'm not surprised if you have 20 pts difference since the beginiing. That's about the same as I have from version 1, but the last few versions seems to have pretty stable scores. Among those that registered and took the last quiz versions more than once, average score standard-deviation is about 4 pts.

What does that mean?

I cannot explain the scale used in LSAS. I've just used the same scale as the original test. However, it is pretty clear already that Aspies often get high scores on LSAS and that just being Aspie will predispose you to get high LSAS score.

I asked what Marked social phobia means. Dies it mean mild or does it mean I have symptoms of it or does that mean I have it?

Probably more like mild.

Between the last and the newest one I went from 191 down to 186, so I guess that isn't that bad. Just a little over the average score standard-deviation.

Is there a way to set up something to be able to show users that are registered their scores by version since the user registration was put in?

ok... is anyone NOT "very likely an Aspie?"

because my 2 scores are lower/higher than the others posted and it still says i am one too... so how low do you have to score?

Nevermind =3

Although for whoever asked about having it tell you you're likely neurotypical, I assume Aspie score would have to be lower than NT score. I did the quiz out of curiousity trying to get NT, managed to get Aspie score 2, NT score 197, and it told me I'm very ikely neurotypical. I assume the lack of NT results would be from a lack of people on here that have nothing even close to AS, and therefore very low reason to be on here.

So is the test more or less reliable now? My aspie score jumped 15 from the last two times I had done it.

If you read up above in his answer to me, you might find what you're looking for.

I am sure this is not the case - I do not feel like I have very severe social phobia :? .
