Ignore what I've said about my mum.

The lady appears to be turning clock-wise, in my mind's eye.

I saw this test the other day. At first it was anti-clockwise, then later it was clockwise, then I learnt how to reverse it with a few seconds of focus, now I see both.

She stands on her left leg to go clockwise, and her right to go counter clockwise. The image is too complex to be changed in such a complex way by mere focus.

OK, maybe I am wrong. If I look at her feet a few seconds, and want it to reverse, it does! Right down to the leg switch, which doesn't make sense. Go figure. 8-(

crazy at first I saw clockwise and didn't think much of it until I saw the "right brain vs left brain" thing and read that it could go anti-clockwise, which was hard for me to believe. It took me around 40 seconds to get her to go anti-clockwise. Most of the people on this site if characterized by the "autistic" generalization of always-seeing-detail-never-see-whole should be seeing anti-clockwise according to the link.

cool stuff

Which direction is she spinning for you?

For me it is always clockwise.

This is really freaking me out. In the past she was always spinning clockwise. Now that I look at her she is spinning anti-clockwise.

By focusing on the space between the foot and the reflection of the foot for a few seconds, I suddenly see the direction change. If I stop focusing there, it goes back to clock-wise. I thought I'd never see the anti-clockwise until it suddenly happened! Now I'm relieved, it was driving me crazy!

Mesmerizing, but I don't get it. What am I supposed to see exactly? It's just a lady spinning, nothing more.

EDIT: Oh duh. She's turning left, then she starts turning right. Way to miss the point, Apollyon!

Actually upon further viewing she is ONLY turning right.

I'm confused?

cool If I look at just her legs I can make her swivel back and forth, not ever moving 360 degrees but 180 with the leg in the air moving away from the page

for me, it always starts out counter-clockwise.. but after a little bit of focus, it goes clockwise, and after awhile, i can control which way she spins, or even make her pivot back and forth. i had my parents do it too.. they were in awe.. :D for my dad, it started out clockwise, and for my mom, it started out counter-clockwise. they both could make it switch at will after awhile, too.

awesome!! while looking at them side by side, i could see one spinning one way, and the other spinning the other way at the same time.. but only if i focused in the middle.. and let them be in my peripheral view... does that mean i was using both sides of my brain at the same time?? XD

She doesn't move at all. I keep animated images turned off in my browser because it bothers me to have things moving on web pages.

counterclockwise, . . . . . . mostly
Don't we use both sides of our brains at the same time?
I was under the impression that is was dominance not lopsided brains.

At first she wouldn't go counter-clockwise. Now she won't go clockwise anymore.

It's all about assumptions. If you assume she's standing on her right leg, you see it going one way. If you convince yourself she's standing on her left leg, she changes direction.
