No questions asked- we believe we can do things better than everyone else; and we're usually right!

In fact, back in late '02-early '03, I decided to try a second job, just to make sure I could stay at Suncoast longer( I REALLY loved my job at Suncoast- just needed to make ends meet, and I sure wasn't doing it there). One of the jobs I tried was a movie theater. I had SO many fights with the higher-ups, and someone finally said to me "you're too independent for your own good"...my first question was "...is that really a BAD thing?!"

Right now, I own my own business with my room-mate...we're actually in the process of launching it. Ya don' wanna deal directly with people? Run it online!

Ya don' like talkin' to 'em on the phone? KEEP it online! Don' want other people controlling the company once you become worth millions? DON'T allow the company to become publicly traded!

Folks- we can pretty much own this world; face it. We Aspies rule...

Oh, now that sounds familiar... I'm sure to a whole lot of people Wink

Your life sounds wonderful. I'm forwarding your post to my hubby. I left my own business after five years because as the business grew, I ended up doing all the client calls, meetings and new business development (also known as "sales", sigh) while the others did the technical work, which was what I was good at. Wearing pajamas, a cat on the lap, own hours and a hugely stimulating brainy job sound like aspie-heaven.

I think worth mentioning is also having an understanding hubby (which I also have). They should get big awards. Smile

I agree hubby should get big awards (both being home during the day can reap such rewards) :)
Thanks for the post. We really like our situation and are pretty dang happy with it! Sales is hard, and due to the slowdown in work, I may have to at least go see some older clients to keep me in their minds. I don't look forward to that. But maybe it can be viewed as a challenge, then it could be ok.

This thread fills me with bitter envy. I'd love to freelance, work from home, or even at a company where my job wasn't about relating to people. But the only skills I have for earning a living are precisely for employee jobs that are 99% about how nicely you relate to people. The internal and the external customers, as they call it, because I give services to other company employees too. I freelanced in my profession for a few years, as an English teacher but I gave up because I was practically starving - this country has a huge English speaking population and is full of native English speaking teachers, which I'm not. I'd give anything to have marketable skills for freelance work. So seeing all the success stories here is nice but it fills me with frustration.
