im not autistic but i used to play competitive tennis with an autistic teenager. he was really good and beat me quit often. socially he was quite akward. because of that not very many of the other teenage tennis players would play with him. i didn't discrimnate, although i did notice it was hard to communicate with him.

what i never understood until now is how well autistic people can write. i mean i cant tell that your writing is akward. so why do aspies have such a hard time dealing in social settings? i mean couldn't you just practice by writing up something with things to say in a conversation?

I feel like I am being phony and think the person I am talking to is thinking I am phony and is turned off by it. However, I don't feel I am being different than any other outgoing person. Am I imagining that the other person is thinking I am phony? (Does what I am saying make sense?)

Because I don't really know how, which makes me feel uncomfortable. I also make a few grammatical errors while speaking, which makes me anxious because I imagine the other person thinks I'm, not phony, but stupid (which I know they do, some have said it). It's just easier not to talk to people at all. I really prefer writing to people, the message gets across more effectively.

LOL. I've tried, and no good can come from it!

Conversations aren't that predictable, and tailored phrases only work to a certain point...
