Pitied, hated or disrespected suggest that someone is thinking about me or judging me. I don't like the idea of being the focus of someone else's attention to the extent that they form an opinion about me, especially people who hardly know me. I much prefer being ignored.

I would probably prefer to be ignored, but I'll add one thing more--I would rather be hated, pitied, ignored or disrespected for what I am, and not what you think I am. Which implies you have to understand me first before you should hate, pity, ignore or disrespect me.

The only time I don't care for being ignored is when I am directly addressing someone. Otherwise, the option is MUCH preferable to any of the other options listed. Mostly I prefer people don't contemplate me much at all.
