I believe there may be some truth to that statement. When I discovered that I had AS a couple years ago, I thought the AS was the reason that I was having panic attacks. Now that I have my panic attacks under control, I realize they were caused by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, brought on by severe physical and mental abuse, as a child/adolescent. My hyper-sensitivety just acted as a trigger sometimes and wasn't the cause. I still don't like to go out but, at least I don't(usually) have to deal with those, paralyzing panic attacks anymore.
