I missed that one Scoots (and I don't quite understand your point about money; profit is the diference between productivity and cost, and has little to do with "budgets" as such! Hiring people for reasons other than their ability to perform the task efficiently is not the best way to generate profit...) but, yes, it's the same thing; you were discriminated against not because of your ability to do the job, nor because of being a misfit, but because of your interaction with the management!

In my own case, it never quite rung true the way I'd hear of "complaints" from my coleagues, when most seemed on friendly terms with me! Sure, a few may have been two-faced enough to act in one way in my presence, but in another when talking to managers, but, the more I think of it, the more convinced I am that the majority of such complaints were at worse exaggerations, and for the most part entirely spurious (as evinced by the way they were usually expressed sotto voce, supossedly to protect my "feelings"? More likely so no one else would get a glimmer of what was being done; after all, part of a successful technique is to assure the victim is not seen as such, and arouses no sympathy! Then of course, a technique that's not well known can more easily be used again...).

gwynfryn, you're right, this thread has some fascinating info! It's a real shame the C&M test is no longer available, but going through the various descriptions posted, it's possible to narrow things down; I find the NAE description a good fit, but not as good as what you showed me earlier, which appears to be NA. I can definitely rule out M,P & D so I would appear to be introverted, but I prefer to think of it as being able to enjoy my own company, which I consider a gift! People, who need people, are the unluckiest people in the World!

I noticed that the original post is from 2004, the page may have been taken down since then.

I got Page Not Found, too.

I took a different test and the results pretty much described me, but the career choices didn't fit.

Maybe this thread needs to disappear, then.

but not everyone agrees, it seems. I'm glad you got something from it. I got a bit of a shock on realising Scooter had a low normalising rating, as he's one of the most consistently smart/sane guys I've encountered on the net! Why would he be working on meatpacking or stocking shelves? It looks like I'll have to reconsider the Autistic+low IQ combo which seemed sufficient to explain at least some autism issues. A shame I'm no longer in communication with Kevin Chandler as he could probably explain, being another very smart and knowledgeable guy, just what is measured to calculate the normalising, and whether or not it relates to IQ. Shouldn't autism researchers be looking at this sort of stuff? As things are, they won't touch it with a bargepole!

This is a real shame where people with autism are concerned, as, like with IQ, the problems would almost certainly be ameliorated if the right education was developed, for both them and their carers, to help them better communicate with each other. If autism research doesn't look at this sort of stuff, then why does it even exist?

There is nothing in this thread that I have not already learned -- nothing useful at all.

Well, well, here he is again trying to suppress the historically correct understanding of what it means to be autistic. Given the overwhelming evidence to support this, he's set himself quite a task! There's puzzle right there; what would motivate any reasonable person to even try to do that?

So you already knew what the label autistic applies to, yet elsewhere you tried to make out it was interchangeable with autism!
