How many of you are self-diagnosed?
In 2002, Newsweek had an article about AS. My older sister read it, put the magazine down, looked at my mother, and said, "So that's what's wrong with Jon!"
I read the article, then the entry in the DSM-IV-TR. Then, to avoid bias, I had my wife read them. She says my picture should be next to the DSM-IV entry. (I recently learned that her psychiatrist, when she described my behavior, gave me an AS diagnosis in absentia.)
So I don't know if I could properly be called self-diagnosed, given that other people diagnosed me first...
