Congratulations on your cure - now you can change your designation from Have Asperger's - Diagnosed to Neurotypical!

Your sweeping statements are amazing - I have a diagnosis AND a computer to hide behind AND I make a pile of money AND I don't use Asperger's as an excuse for anything, because I do outstanding work, AND no one in my office even knows about the Asperger's, except for my immediate supervisor.

This boss is smart enough to make use of my unusual abilities, and overlook the Aspie quirks, which is to everyone's benefit, because I can solve computer problems that no one else in my office can.

Knowing about the Asperger's has made life much easier for me, simply because I have learned WHY I am different from everyone in my workplaces, past and present. That knowledge helps me succeed, because I have learned to lower my expectations of NT co-workers.

Contrary to your claim of great expertise, you don't seem to know much about Asperger's at all.

I was about to write pretty much exactly the same thing, but you've beat me to it. Except in my office it's one of my colleagues who knows, rather than my boss. I have a diagnosis, I have a computer, I make lots of money, I have lots of fun, I have an active social life, I know how I work because of the Asperger's and as such can make extra use of my 'obsessions' and use those 'quirks' to my advantage... This troll really doesn't understand much about AS does he?!

I have doen enough research spent a year here seen three different doctors and there it is =crap.

I have worked with autistic kids. I know autism.

But the majority of people I have met in the aspergers community are elitist cowardly lazy dorks.

If I had a diagnosis and a computer to hide behind i wouldnt have ever accomplished anything in my life either.

Aspergers in thier 30s and older are dorks making excuses for thier sad lives. The iones under thirty are just whiney misfits theat now have a liscence to be pitiful and proud of it.

Of course thats just an opinion.

An informed , educated, experienced opinion.

Listen Dave. Asperger's is very real for me. So for you to call us dorks is rude, insensitive, and and an uneducated comment. Think before you speak.

Either your in-denial or just infantile autistic(Read: ret*d).

Infantile autism isn't the same as mental retardation. Infantile autism is kanner's autism.

No, but as far as im aware infantile autistic people have an IQ > 70. I could be wrong though, if so im sorry if i hurt anybody.
I was kinda pissed when i read this thread.

Oh, I wasn't offended, I hope it didn't sound like it. I just wanted to correct it, because it's easy to get all confused about the official criteria. I know I do get confused often. Mostly because professionals use different unofficial ideas to diagnose spectrum disorders even.

About this IQ thingy in general: Mental retardation is defined as scoring 70 or below (and by deficits in 'adaptive functioning'). Also I think that a person who scores below 70 and is autistic is generally considered low-functioning. But not every lf autistic person or person with infantile autism = classical autism = kanner's autism has an IQ below 70, thus my objection.
