I have a job where I have to submit a report every month on the first (or the first day of the week after the first that we work). Now, our stat sheets contain various bits of information that we have to collect for our grant funding. Our stats are also due by the end of the day. So around 1 PM, my boss asks for information that is included on our stat sheets. So, I email the boss and ask him does he want the information independent of our stat sheets. He asks when he will get the stat sheets. I, stating what I think is the obvious, remind him that they are due at the end of the day. So then he asks me, can you send the info to me or not?
Now, first of all, I kow it's strictly a pragmatic thing, but yes, I can send them to you. I have that capability. However, I wonder, why would I extract the info from my stat report, put it in an email and then turn around 2 hours later and send you the stat report with the same info in a different format? So, I highlighted the info on my stat report and sent that. I feel like I live in the land of Dilbert. I send the same info in 10 different formats to the same guy. It's stupid.
Later in the day, he corners me. He asks me why I think it's okay to question every decision. I'm thinking, well, it's pretty stupid to ask me to send you information that you can extract from my stat sheet in a different format two hours before I'm going to send you the info anyway.
So, I had two stupid questions from my boss in less than 2 hours. I understand that it's his job to ask me stupid questions. It's just annoying.

You know, I thought that, when I was dealing with it. My god, I'm in some sort of demented "Office Space" nightmare!
