Yes it saddens me. Particularly as I think i would have been a good father.

For some reason I'm comforted by the fact that when I was in college a few girls who knew me well from extra-curricular activities were very attracted to me. In those cases the line, "It's not you, it's me", was true.

For the most part we have to get used to being alone, which, given the Aspy character, is not that hard. Imagine how hard it must be for an NT extrovert who can't find a partner for whatever reason.

The traditional historic role for folks like us is to do whatever we can to help other people find one another or do better by one another. If we can't find happiness for us we can try to help others find it; maybe this will come back to us in some way.

That's basically the only major challenge I have left to overcome. It just never feels like I make any progress.

the only thing that kept me going for a while was the thought of going to school and finding someone... but that has yet to happen, so for now all I have is music.

I don't really want love.

A group of close friends who "get me" would more than suffice.

Obviously yes.

Fundamental need of our species. All cultures, throughout history.

What do you expect?

Sometimes I think it might be nice, but when it comes to specifics instead of daydreams, it's completely unappealing. I have been on a couple of dates, but they were farcical and I'm lucky the people didn't hold it against me. I am at least not ready to be in a relationship now.

I've had a couple of relationships, but we'd know it wasn't meant to last. At least we had some good times.

I'm not exactly looking at the moment, but I wouldn't mind if I found someome.

I am quite alone... and I do feel a need for love, actually. It's often on my mind.

But when it comes to reality, I have no idea how to turn these ideas into something real. I don't know how to act, date, flirt etc etc etc. So, my conclusion is that I'm not yet ready for anything. But I certainly would not want to be single all my life.

Off topic:
Does anybody else than me find it annoying when virginity is laughed at and made fun of? I don't need to mention the film "40 year old virgin". I bet there are a number of 40 year old virgins of both sexes out there... laughed at. In cinemas.

36 year old V right here. By choice. I have had opportunities, but they were not perfect like my obsessive mind requires.
