My avatar is very generic but my member name to many sounds masculine. This never occured to me when I took the name monastic but I have been mistaken for a male before. It does not bother me at all, though.

General Announcement: I am female and straight - perhaps I should put this in my signature for those that feel it matters?

Nah, I think I'll just leave things the way they are as I would rather people speak to me as another human being rather than speak to my gender.

I speak to the members here as individuals and my answers would (hopefully) be the same regardless to what sex I am talking to. I find no reason to make sure each member knows whether I am male or female as I am here to communicate and not to find a mate.

Sorry if I have confused anyone - oh well...I believe, the more you get to know me, the more confusing I become 8O

I completely agree. I might check a person's profile to find out what gender they are in order to choose the correct pronoun. Other than pronoun usage, a persons gender will not change my post.

I'm sorry Soma, was that too much information?

I apologise, what I said may have been a little gross, especially at the end

monastic, I'm even more confused now, how can you call your member monastic if you're female?

My avatar is a railroad logo, so I don't know how there is something to complain about. But on a side note, in a lot of foreign languages where nouns have gender (like Spanish), their word for "railroad" has a feminine gender. (such as "la ferrocaril" in Spanish)

Ahh, so it's a FEMALE avitar! ;)
