Not knowing the names of 'everyday things'? How cover up?
I'm usually good about it, but I get names of people I only meet a few times backwards, like I get a page of search results and the top one is irrelevant. Also, I substitute ice for salt at least twice every winter, as in "the trucks haven't iced the roads yet". Drives me crazy. NTs will do this in foreign languages, which may be significant in some way.

In a wy I am happy to see others make mistakes like this. I USED to remember everything pretty precisely(and supposedly autistics do), but it has gotten more general. In fact, lately(Actually it has been many years, but oh well...), I have come to realize that MOST of what I know is in bits and pieces. My brain reconstructs memories from various sources. I was almost gratified when a new memory course I got spoke of that. It was like "WOW! They noticed the SAME thing! VINDICATION!"!
Anyway, if a thought isn't pieced together 100%, you could end up with things like what you are talking about, especially if it is while you are speaking extemporaneously.
I really struggle with this to.
Not knowing words I should.
Forgetting words.
Getting word meanings muddled up.
A lot of my sentences end up like this- Can we get the thingy so the thingy doesn't thing anymore.
My brother gets annoyed, my parents keep calm and try and work out what im trying to say.
My brother thinks im being annoying on purpose but its really like there are no words.
The other thing is I find out after years that I've gotten words wrong.
Yesterday for example, I found out that all my life I've thought that a Chest of Draws were called Chester Draws.
Thats just one small example.
Im learning new things all the time.
