I think his post was pretty ironic when viewed from the context of this site. Many people come here because they are tired of feeling "unique" which in a society that loves conformity=negative. Most people seem to respnd to the threads of people who they think share similiar traits and this makes us less unique. It appears to me that w share a very basic human desire to "fit" somewhere and we reinforce that by sharing our similiar traits.

The OP on the other hand...was the person who desired to be "unique" for no purpose other then a need for attention and that is actually pretty sad. How many of us need attention so desperately (and have no other productive hobbies/interests) that we maste our time on such activities..(OK, I know there are a few here, but very few compared to most sites).

Astute observation.

I agree. And it's relevant to so much, here and elsewhere.

When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

Well... I'm glad this idiocy is over and out of the way.
One post about explains it all.

Only the weak get offended... and clearly the original poster was weak.

I've been familiar with the term for a very long time; was common in the newsgroups for years, and if I am not mistaken was in use even during the halcyon days of the BBS. /oldgeek/

You're not the only one! I actually RAN a BBS once! "Dr. Falcons Retreat"! OK, I started it about the time wargames came out.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086567/

I actually got a few requests to sell it. It was NICE, and had multiprocessing capability that used a then undocumented hook I found in the Apple II! But I couldn't see the point in selling it because there were better ones around. I don't think ANY ran on the Apple II, but Apple DOS wasn't a great platform.

That was 1983, but I've been on BBSs as early as 1979. But YEAH, troll is an OLD term. Maybe it comes from the idea of trollING which is a VERY old term regarding fishing and relates to moving the bait along the water and looking for a fish to bite:

Let me toss in my 2 cents. :-) if someone dislikes a site why go to it? The internet has opened up the world to people outside of just Autism. If you have Cancer, are paralyzed or any number of many many issues you can 100% chance to find a messageboard to talk about it. I am GLAD there is a board for people with forms of Autism for me it's comforting that there are others like me that show the same behavior and that I'm not alone isn't that what this is mainly about? Sure some people might have friends/boyfriend supportive family but some of us need something more and in my case I have no friends or boyfriend and I can talk on here without getting my grammar analyzed. :-)

(Just like now my grammar sucks but thankfully no one on WP has said a negative thing about it.) :-) :D
