I actually got a few requests to sell it. It was NICE, and had multiprocessing capability that used a then undocumented hook I found in the Apple II!

But I couldn't see the point in selling it because there were better ones around. I don't think ANY ran on the Apple II, but Apple DOS wasn't a great platform.
That was 1983, but I've been on BBSs as early as 1979. But YEAH, troll is an OLD term. Maybe it comes from the idea of trollING which is a VERY old term regarding fishing and relates to moving the bait along the water and looking for a fish to bite:
