Truthfully, I've come across several people in the Autistic spectrum whom come from a great many ethnic and racial backgrounds.In fact, there was someone whom, I once corresponded via email whom was Native American as well, there was a couple that I often read posts from on a Aspergers group on Yahoo that were Islamic so, Aspergers has no limitations or boundaries as to who has it whereby, I'm glad that I'm not just the only person on the planet to act eccentric otherwise, I'd go bonkers.. :lol:

I met a Japenese doctor (paediatrician) who was having 2 months work experience with Tony Attwood. I tried to ask him about autism in Japan but we had communication problems.

The relevant question is how much it effects each. The gender asymmetry is well established I believe(#male autistics >> #female ones), although it remains to be seen if anyone here supporting either view on the relation between race and instance of autism has any hard evidence...

And no, AS is not unique to white people. Blacks just happen to have less access to services that would give them correct diagnosis early on due to economic and geographic factors.

Oh, and this myth about "black culture" disliking anything intellectual has got to stop, ASAP. This is painting a huge, diverse group with one monolithic brush. Why is it that members of minority groups can't be looked at as individuals? I'm Nirrti, who happens to be black, not someone who's supposed to be an example of what all black people do.

I'm just an Aussie making an observation on a country I have only seen on TV, but I thought the major cultural divsion was cat lovers (aspies predominatly fall into that), dog lovers, and other bastards who don't like animals.

Although you could also make a cultural divide by separating those that hunt and those that don't. This would similarly categorize dog lovers and whites, because it appears that hunters are just about always white and love dogs. Just have a look at waterfolwer.com and ducksunlimited.com

Japan has the highest percentage of Autism diagnoses in the world. I don't know about Asperger's.
