Wow you have gone 20 years without getting shocked, how have you managed that.

Lost count how many times I have been shocked, electric fences mostly, I grew up in the country. I have had a couple of 240 volt ones, they are not nice.

I put one of the ends of cords (the ones you use to plug into computers the 9 Volt ones on the ends of my tongue when younger, it felt like it was cutting into my tongue like something sharp and the like....did it several times, unplugged it, did id, plugged it up again, did it again. lol.

EDIT: and Static electricity during winters sometimes.

EDIT 2: lots of you get electric fences I see...lol

I've been shocked lots of times, well about 3, but had several more electrical experiences.

First time shocked, when I was maybe 5 or 6, there was an electrical outlet in my brother's room that had a mysterious blue plasma arcing from one slot to the other, resembling the blue color of a gas stove's flame. Being young and having to touch everything at least once, I reached out and ran my finger though the magical glow. OWW did that hurt! Pain with electrical hand twitching, I somehow didn't cry because of it but did yell pretty loud! The glow persisted a few more moments but was gone when the parents arrived, and I've never seen anything like it (or heard of anybody else seeing anything like it) ever since. Knowing what I know now about electricity, I struggle to understand how such a thing could've even been possible.

Second time was simply washing my hands in the bathroom (maybe 10 years old now), and went to shut off the light before I was done. My hand touched the wall plate for the light switch and bzzzzzt! Something in there wasn't wired quite right because it went through me and through the water and into the plumbing. Not fun.

Third time was last February or March. Since I work in a lighting showroom, I'm always wiring up light fixtures for customers. One day for a post light, I had to install it onto the post and use the wires sticking out of the base of the post and connect them together... well I didn't know those exposed wires were still live (all the bulbs wired to that post were burnt out), so I touched the two wires and well, you never do forget the feeling of being shocked.

Wiring accidents and faulty fixtures at that job exposed me to several electrical explosions, complete with bright flash of light and sparks and all that scary joy. On one occasion, got my forearm sprayed with a "mist" of molten copper from such an incident. Surprised it never left a scar.

One time when I was in 8th grade, and had a plug with a few feet of wire, and nothing on the other end of it. So I stripped the wires and plugged it in, and was curious about what would happen if I touched the wires too my tongue... BUT I wasn't ready to attempt that just yet, so instead what I thought I'd do, was touch the wires to a needle I had laying around and see how much electricity I was dealing with (wasn't yet aware of Ohm's law). I expected the needle might get hot and glow red, orange or yellow. So I touched it... POP!! Blinding flash of light, left a blind spot that lasted the rest of the day... the center portion of the needle was totally gone, both ends were melted, and a small layer of glass from the desk surface I'd done this on was blackened. Needless to say, I aborted the lick test idea and had a much healthier respect for electricity after that!

Yes and I like it very much.

On second thought-that can be misconstrued.

As a very small child I recieved electric shocks via a controlled setting. I was fascinated with the dial, my doctor, my sibling there and the whole process in general.

I've 'accidentally' both had 'taps' in rain stormed fields where I roamed as an older child as well as had some idiot accidental jolts as an adult-always seems to set my thinking right though...girl who doesn't know not to grab at a port with wet hands will never learn.

A taser would kill me-so I ALWAYS comply with the police beyond their ability to argue hit and miss.

And nothing kinky, thanks!

I fix electronics for a living, so you'd figure I would know better, hehehe. I don't. I'd have to say that the best one was when I was testing power output on a 5v power supply. My multimeter leads were too fat to get in to the little space where the output lugs were, so I wrapped some wire around the end of the leads to extend them a bit. I do it all the time and never have a problem. This time the dumb wire wouldn't hold still on the lead.

Well, I'm not quite sure why I thought it would be a good idea, but I decided that it would be fine to use my finger to press the wire onto the lead. That wouldn't even have been much of an issue because there was no circuit being created, at least until my wrist touched the chassis. Sure it was only 5 volts, but it must have pushed something like 20 amps. It felt like my hand turned to jello. Really cool. I guess the worst part about it was the fact that the power supply was bad, and changing it out with my tingly hand was a serious pain in the butt.

I've got a few other good ones, but I've dragged this out long enough already.

Couple of accidental shocks. And obviously the 'static electricity' sort where sparks jump to a metal object when the air's very dry...

I've always thought it was a very odd, interesting feeling. But obviously it's not safe to play around with.

When I was a teenager I was standing on a chair changing a light bulb in the ceiling and accidently put my finger in the socket. Needless to say I ended up on the floor and blew a few fuses. Ive also touched an electrical fence....just to see what would happen.

I took a summer job as a janitor when I was 17. Part of the reason for summer help was a renovation project of unused office space, so I was doing demolition most of the time.

I touched two live wires in a wall and got thrown back.

I have never again trusted someone else telling me the circuit breaker is off. Always assume the gun is loaded.

Several times by 110/120VAC, once by 220VAC (Single leg only), once by unknown DC voltage from an ungrounded pinball machine, and once buy an old Earth guitar amp that blew a tube when I cranked it to '10', which grounded out through my guitar and finally myself. -- I've also recieved low DC voltage from a horrible pair of Radio Shack earbud headphones.

The same electric fence that I mentioned earlier: I liked to squick one of my friends by deliberately grabbing hold of it firmly with one hand. The trick was that I effectively overloaded the fence charger by doing that. I would grab it and HE would start twitching. I thought it was hilarious.

I turned on a lamp that had a short in it, but the shock from that was mild. After the lamp was unplugged for a few minutes, I threw it in the trash.
